There was a moment where he collected the ball in space, had Osman and Barkley near him, had the opportunity to take the ball, drive with it and take the game by the scruff of the neck...

But instead he crabbed a one yard pass to Osman.

Another moment when a poor Chelsea ball gave him the chance to take the ball down on the chest and drive them back towards goal...

But instead he tried an implausible stooped header towards Barkley that didn't have a prayer of coming off.

Very unimpressed.

It's early days.

Playing in a winning side with other quality players will, I have no doubt give him the platform to develop all those things your wanting from him.

Give it time he's 22

Come on mate. It's a good day. Nobody really let us down, he has yet to have the time to impose himself.

Sorry but if that's your opinion then that's ridiculous.

Anyone criticising him, needs to get a grip. Not only that but we don't need them. The same divs were saying the same about Fellaini the first six months he played for us. Great day for us. Everyone thought we would leak goals but for the most part we have been solid. Mc Carthy will be a main stay in our midfield just like Fellaini was. Up the Blues.

Onwards and upwards lads.

He's a young player making his Everton debut coming on in a game against one of the title contenders whilst the games was in full pace.

That short pass to Osman was one of his first touches and he clearly was a little worried because of everything to stuff up so instead of taking the risky option he played it safe as he gains more confidence and gets used of the Everton ways you will see him coming out of his shell and playing the way he likes to play.

I don't know how you can be "very unimpressed" with a player after seeing just 20 minutes of him against a title contender on his debut.

Lets face it, it's impossible to accurately judge his ability on a 20min cameo.

He did nothing wrong, so we should get behind the lad.

Both of those things happened, that's not opinion. I agree with Christiffa that it's early days though, but that wasn't impressive tonight to say the least.

I don't really know what you expect of him considering the circumstances, i.e. debut game, team on the back foot against title contenders etc. I thought he looked neat and tidy.

Barkley lost the ball countless times today but I don't see you slating him?

That's why I'm pointing out his errors. Those saying he "did well" on the back of that cameo are saying so based on nothing.

He didn't do well. He was bog standard. Don't know why we can't just be honest about Everton player performances. Jelavic was dreadful today too. Barkley, Barry and Naismith were fantastic.

Gave the ball away/ran into danger many times and dithered when in front of goal too.

Just providing some balance.

So instead of concentrating on the snap he gave us in midfield when we was under loads of pressure you concentrate on a couple of safe balls when we needed to in keep the ball.
