I bet they point out at least three on motd - he did a decent job today.
 
What did you expect of him then? in a 20 minute sub appearance given the circumstances..

Did you expect him to come on and start running at the Chelsea defense at every tangible opportunity? or did you just expect him to be "mediocre" before he even touched the ball?
 
He's going the distance here...someone always gets hurt eventually.

He wasn't amazing, he wasn't ****e, its was a hard game to come into, anyone looking to pick at this performance is a ****e supporter who got no understanding of the game.

No, I expected a 6/10 max performance, and we got slightly less than that. He wasn't bad, I haven't said he was bad, but he wasn't good. He was mediocre. Bog standard. Average. Whatever word you want to use. 5/10.

He didn't "do well", he wasn't "good", he wasn't "bad", those are all words that are incorrect.

However, there were instances of play where he was unimpressive that are worth pointing out - his poor pass selection with the through ball to Mirallas, the shirking of responsibility with the pass to Osman, the poor choice to head a ball he should have taken on the chest, the bottling out of a 50/50 etc. If he had done something impressive, I'd be pointing those out too, but I don't think he did anything particularly "well" when he came on other than fill space.

I've lost the plot by pointing that out though!

There where parts of the game where Barkley wasnt very impressive but you gave him an 8?

Correct. As impressive as Ross was at times he dawdled far too much on the ball throughout, both in the center and in front of goal. He also misplaced a number of passes. It's something that he'll address though, and chalk it down to inexperience.

Point is, you're being overly harsh on McCarthy tbh.

We have just beaten Chelsea and mourinho and people want to pick on McCarthy's 20 minutes. I honestly don't know what some Evertonians want.

I am buzzing. I am massively impressed by Gareth Barry, and I will be there next week at West Ham to see Lukaku. Lets just enjoy the moment! I have every confidence that Martinez is going to mould Jimmy Mc, Barry and Barclay into a formidable unit, with Gibson to support.
