James McCarthy

Aren't the comments about McCarthy exactly the same as we got about Fellaini soon after he joined?

Can we not give the lad a few months not a few minutes before ****ging him off?

I trust Martinez and the fact that he rates McCarthy very highly must say something about McCarthy. Give the lad a chance.
Think it's still the fee that people have an issue with. He's done well when he's come on aside from the penalty and I blame jags more than him for that anyway.

That's just daft. We need money and we could have used the delta to bring someone else in. We overpaid, plain and simple. Respected, expert valuations put him nearer to 7m and IMO that's about right.

Words fail me.

Who exactly are these "respected, expert valuations"?

You're going to say some football manager computer game aren't you?!?

Theoretical Valuation and Worth are two different things.

If we'd only got Fellaini's release clause of £23.5m and paid £9m for McCarthy i don't think anyone would be complaining about the fee. The way i see it Manu paid the difference not us.

Bad kopite logic that lad.

He was OK yesterday, nothing more, nothing less, got done by that yard dog Nolan for the penalty with a naive half arsed challenge. Aside from that he was generally tidy on the ball & his positioning was OK.

Its unfair to blame for the penalty really. If Jags had defended properly it wouldn't have become an issue. Fair enough, he did commit the foul but at least he was trying to deal with the situation. jags should have played safe and hoofed it.

He's going to be very good for us, no question. Daft challenge yesterday (even though Nolan milked it). One thing I did notice though was a moment before that he seemed to stop playing when Petric turned away from Jagielka inside the box instead of closing him down. That was strange. He should have snuffed out the danger there and then.
nothing said about barrys part in the pen , not nit picking ,mccarthy will turn out to be a great player for us ive no doubt ,

Those challenges happen, can happen to the best, Nolan did well to be fair to shift it.

McCarthy seemed to stop dead seconds before it though - very odd.

That's just daft. We need money and we could have used the delta to bring someone else in. We overpaid, plain and simple. Respected, expert valuations put him nearer to 7m and IMO that's about right. Nobody else was in for him at that kind of money, plus if we'd have let him fade into obscurity in the championship we'd have probably got him for nearer 5m. Ericksen is a good comparison, the octopus from Porto looks the more complete player at that price, others like Defour would have been cheaper.

He's lucky to have Barry babysitting him and showing him the ropes. Frankly he looks lost at times but I hope he comes good.

You know nothing about that kid from Porto so stop trying to look clever! we're you at the match or even watched it yesterday? because he looked anything but lost? I suppose it's just a coincedence that our danger players seen more of the ball when he came on?

Tell me who these respected people are who value him at 7m? We've had a good start, enjoy it

Nolan played for the pen very well and then milked the challenge. It happens. I really liked the side we had out in the second half, Lukaku played some great football.....

It was Jagielka's fault for the penalty in the first place. McCarthy could do nothing about it as Nolan was clever and played for the foul. He came on and fitted in really well yesterday. We were shouting out for a player to get on the ball in midfield and get it forward quickly into the feet of Barkley and Mirallas, who had space since Lukaku takes two defenders out of the game at once, and that's what McCarthy did. Add Pienaar back into the lineup instead of Oviedo, and Gibbo still to come back as well, and things are looking really good!

I didn't want us to spend that amount of money on him, but we did so let's move on from the price.

Penalty aside I really like the look of him, his composure is what we need.

People shouldn't be so eager to **** him off just because of the price tag.
