nothing said about barrys part in the pen , not nit picking ,mccarthy will turn out to be a great player for us ive no doubt ,
Yeah, thought Jagielka could have done better with Petric too (he had one of those days yesterday though). McCarthy played well other than that. I expect him to easliy justify the price tag.

Those challenges happen, can happen to the best, Nolan did well to be fair to shift it.

McCarthy seemed to stop dead seconds before it though - very odd.

People were saying 'defo pen'. I thought it was border-line myself. McCarthy's foot's hardly raised, he plants it in the deck. Just an old pro doing a young one. He'll learn.

Never understood this argument. If Utd had paid 35m for Fellaini would it have been ok to pay 21m for McCarthy just because they paid the extra?
We're dangerously close to entering kopite territory - 'We told Chelsea we want £15m & Carroll for Torres so it was them that paid it really!'

And Nolan played for it all day. Debatable pen, extremely soft. I thought he dived at first, certainly theatrically threw himself over

Some fans seen to have an agenda of ****ging the lad off.

For the life of me I cannot understand why. I was very impressed with him yesterday

I'm the same mate, I don't understand where they are coming from. we looked 10 times better with him on the pitch than when he wasn't.

Yep that's spot on. McCarthy went in to the challenge square on, Nolan nudged it past him and the rest was obvious.

It happens, but it was definitely a penalty.

Allardyce on McCarthy:

"The goal for Rav [Morrison] was great, it gives him a lot of confidence for his development and growth, but we found a difference when McCarthy came on and we had to make sure we controlled that situation which was Everton getting more and more into an attacking mode so playing off him was more dificult for us to cope with."

Im not writing him off or anything silly like that... but what does he actually do ? went to tonights game and he was anonymous, didn't make many challenges, a few sideways passes etc

Early days i know, hopefully he shows what he can do once he gets a few more matches.

He's going to do that quite often until he's taught how to grab a game by the scruff of the neck, set the tempo and take responsibility.

Tonight was a performance I saw from McCarthy time and time again at Wigan - it's the performance of a timid lad who like getting on with the job but not doing anything out of the ordinary. It's why I'm already looking for him to step up a level at Everton.

Before people jump on my back, I'm not criticising the lad, I'm just pointing out something he has in his game and that he will do for quite some time.

He needs 18 months and quality coaching.

I asked myself the same question after the West Ham game and went back to solely watch his performance in that match. More than anything, the answer is energy. I was delighted. I am in no doubt he will be a permanent fixture this season.

Not seen too much of him if I'm truthful....is Martinez playing him as a box-to-box or a holding player ? Seen him in the league last two games but isn't really a flair player and doesn't stand out so much.

Interesting to see Alardyces comments amount McCarthy nullifying Morrison....

Which supermodel do you have your fingers up tonight Zat mate?

730am here....been travelling, passed out early.

Catching up with the game reports -- good to see players getting a run out.

Oh and my girlfriend is super and a model and still looks a bit sleepy.
