James McCarthy

The only time he is noticed is with his delays passing and late tackles, Besic looked yards faster IMO!
very first thing besic did on the pitch is play a pass mcCarthy isn't capable of, not saying he doesn't have his uses but managers having steadfast favourites, like martinez with mcCarthy is always a weakness long term, play besic, we need a spark

Besic is always likely to cause sparks.

Like Coleman he just hasn't been the same player since our first season under martinez.

Sad when you consider how boss they both were.

Is hideously out of form and looks no way near as fit as he used too, these days he's beetroot red after 20 minutes FFS. Needs dropping for the rest of the season to give him a boot up the arse that he (and many others to be fair) badly needs. Give Besic and Barkley in central midfield a go with Niasse playing off Lukaku.

Agree with all that but I prefer Mirallas to Niasse.

Besic did more in two minutes of being on than McCarthy did in 50.
He's either unable to play like a footballer or bought so much in to Martinez's waffle that he thinks having an 85+% completion rate is a must so won't risk being dynamic and risking not padding his stats.

Third time this season he could have easily been sent off - got away with it the other day against Watford with the handball a few minutes after being booked, got away with it the other month - another handball when on a booking from a few mins earlier cant remember which game), this time absolutely no arguments he should have walked - that second booking was utterly braindead.

Been a poor season for him - or maybe the first season is starting to look the anomally now...

In the same way that Gareth Barry was below par last season after his first year, McCarthy is having his poor season this year.

His two yellow cards last night were, as @The Esk said in the match report thread, nothing short of brainless, in particular the second that saw him dismissed.

El Bob or if he's not willing/prepared to Jags as skipper, need to have serious word with McCarthy about his somewhat rush-of-blood tackling as he's bordering on Scholes type tackling - ill-timed, ill-judged and agricultural at best.

Him being missing on Saturday will afford us the chance to pair Mo with Gaz Baz and that could be interesting and fingers crossed, they gel quickly as a pairing.

Bournemouth away in the cup he could have been sent off for mate.

Considering he's Bobbys own favourite pet he's certainly doing his best to try and get him sacked lol

Aye that was the game, not even counting the fact he has had one or two tackles that another ref (Clattenberg) could easily have shown him red for - Payet and a couple of others come to mind
