Also completely ignores the fact that Mirallas could and should have been playing the LW spot for most of the season.
To pick Kone on the left wing over miralles for about 3 months of the season was the final straw for me. That and his continued preference of heard in goal for the best part of 18 months when Howard had clearly gone.

I thought he was a bit to deep at times almost a third centre back. It gave them a bit of space between our midfield and defence. If he would have pushed up 10 yards i think he would have been more effective but suppose match fitness played its part.
Dont think it did, first half looked like we were playing on the counter and the entire team was way deep, second half he did it to cover stones which worked really well.

God knows where the fraud mccarthy was supposed to be postioned

Mccarthy is an engine! When played as such he is effective, reminds me of Bracewell's role for Reidy! Break up play, win the ball give it to the ballplayer. that was why the Barry/ McCarthy partnership was so effective season one! Bracewell was never capable of taking the Reidy mantle, that didnt make him a bad player, nor does it make McCarthy a bad player!

There are dozens and dozens of centre mids out there who are better than McCarthy, I'm certain of it. He's so, so limited and United passed it round him with such ease yesterday.
He Wouldn't get near the squad for half the teams in the league let alone their starting line ups.

Ridiculously limited for a supposed premier league player, one of our highest earners as well

This is the thing that bugs me the most. We have to put pressure on the opposition when we don't have the ball, from front to back. Barkley as much as I like him is one of the main culprits for this. All successful teams don't let the opposition have time on the ball. Too many times this season we have sat back and invited the attack on to us. that for me is why we concede so many goals.

We haven't learned at all this season. We concede the flanks by defending the box which allows any amount of crosses to come in and when we are sitting on the box we have invited them to 20 yds from goal. Now this would work if all the players are focussed on runners rather than ball watching. We are passed through very easily. If Martinez worked on pressing then the opposition would not be afforded the time and space to make killer passes. It is frustrating when one or two of our players press whilst the rest of the team watch. Its got to be collective pressing and it is a big part in the PL. Man Utd destroyed us on our flanks without trying too hard.

Can't see any new 'top' manager being overly enamoured with him. Likely to be one of the casualties and rightly so, plenty of better options than him out there. Imagine seeing forward passes from your centre mids!

Completely wrong, as demonstrated by ll McColl ll's post above. Gibson simply spent the whole game sat in the back line and Stones only stepped forward to fill in for him after the penalty miss.
Heat map shows he stayed in the channel hes supposed to be ala barry, if theyre not 20 yards forward then thats pure tactics. Thought the stones /gibson axis worked extremely well, didnt worry once when john came out. Gibson give a good balance of the defensive while trying to play it forward

Pity it has demised to 90 cc moped!

Think a new Manager will get a lot more out of him.

If we can somehow get that 2013 James McCarthy back whilst having a new Manager try and help add more to his game we've got a brilliant midfielder on our hands. Im not giving up on McCarthy just yet. Id sell a fair few players before McCarthy.

A new Manager will see straight through him. I said it last year there are loads of players out there that can do McCarthy's job.
And don't cost 13mil.

Need a lot better to move forward

Mate, his first season,he was fantastic, but he is one of many in my eyes who have regressed under RM,and to me even at his best he was not in the same stratosphere as Brace:)
