I like McCarthy but if we are to push for top 4 I dont think he will be good enough for what we want now from Everton, can see him going somewhere like Sunderland.

Even in first season form he needed to add more to his game, beyond limited.

But as long as he does a particular role well, in his case closing down/pressing/recovery of ball, happy to leave some of the more creative stuff to other players.

If we want to aim higher we need better. There is such a thing as players who can do the dirty while still being able to play. Ginger cattermole can't even do the dirty work these days and he's supposed to be 'good' at that

Even I agreed with that think we have a few other holes in the squad we need to address more urgently - replacements for Barry & Jags, another GK, decent backup strikers and perhaps a primary one if Rom goes, LW etc.

Will be interresting if one of our academy lads such as either Ledson or Davies can turn out to be the type of player you are talking about.

He was dire today. Most of our Centre mids are not match winners and that can be the difference at the top level.

I expect we might see a few new faces in centre mid next season, especially with tentative links to Strootman and Witsel already.
