James McCarthy

For me everyone gets a clean slate new manager, new ideas a clear direction of how to play even Niasse.
Nah, want him gone. Never liked him from the moment I heard we were linked with him. Just get him gone, 3 - 5 million or whatever we can take. Roberto's parting gift, what an absolute divvy of a manager he was.

No he didn't, if anything he harmed their value cause they were gash for large parts of last season, Stones in particular, due to his lack of management ability.

So if Martinez didn't give Stones the chance then what would he be worth. Same with signing Lukaku when the rest of the country including many of us thought he was mad paying £28m

Are you using Giles and Dunphy as a weapon to criticise McCarthy ?.. seriously ?

I wouldn't trust either of those to make a proper cup of tea...never mind critique a player.

Yes I am. What they say is not lies. They were spot on. They seen as I saw it. No argument really. They may pick on him but what was said is true.

I think what he needs is focus and discipline. The sooner we can give that to him the more we will see him progress.

With that in mind we should start him first game v Spurs and tell him to compete for the first and second balls at all time against their midfield. Then, when the half time whistle is blown, our new fitness coach Kluitenberg should dash on the pitch and force him to the mud before removing his kecks and SODOMISING JAMES HARD for a good ten minute thrashing. Right there and then with a gusto that shows this new regime demands high octane movement.

Sub James then for the second half and let him reflect on the lesson he's just learned.

Take it from there then. We will know if he's bought into this new regime by Christmas and if not we can sell him.
Would his ragged @rse have healed by Christmas?

What?. He had to play Stones cause he fell out with Distin remember, thankfully Stones is a superb footballer and did well and then got progressively worse as Blerto and his coaching staff got in him. And Rom?. We had him on loan mate and he did brilliant for us, every one of us wanted him back. Has he improved much since his first season?. Not really from what I can see he was raw then and he's still raw now. I don't buy this Bobby made these players talk at all, they've all gone backwards/stoodstill under him.

I couldnt give a toss what he does for Ireland...

He looked alright in the last game he played for us and scored a nice goal. I'm willing to see what he does under a new manager.

Interesting "man management"

Think injuries have really taken a toll, he's a player who really needs to be fully fit to play his pressing game and think that (and the teams general form) had a knock on effect on his confidence.

But guess we'll see if a) Koeman likes him b) can get performances closer to that first season out of him. He is still only 25 so in theory still has the bulk of his career ahead of him if he can kick on.

His homegrown status could well play a part as well, like it probably did with Gibson's retention.
Agree that this is a bigger factor than many people initially realise.

The lad has gone backwards. He was never very skillfull but since his fighting spirit and desire are gone i'm not sure if he deserves to stay at the new Everton. Especially that it was only last year when he wanted to force a move to Spurs to get more money

Lol at everyone saying he's gash and they always knew it. He was excellent in his first season, when he was deployed as a more dynamic box-to-box in 14/15 it kickstarted a streak of wins and the last season he's been devastated by injury and rushed back every time. He's a very decent player that does a boring job so that our attacking mids who don't really get involved can contribute. Koeman has made Stephen Davies into a very good player in his Soton side who was the definition of bang average, he can do the same to McCarthy

Sounds like Goodison's in for a lot of centre circle sodomy spectacles next season...good stuff Cheeks!! ( pun intended)

Well Moyes obviously didn't trust Stones but Martinez did hence his valuation now. Lukaku was a goalscorer but who else was willing to pay 28m and everyone thought we were mad. Just saying like. I know it hurts to admit that credit has to go to Martinez for the hiked valuations buts its true.
