Imagine asking for a move at the first sign of competition for his place? No wonder he wilted under the pressure of our season imploding, no spine.
This is how I feel, he's enjoyed 3 years here with basically no competition, now he's asking to move as soon as some turns up. Unless Koeman has told him he won't have many opportunities it doesn't make him look good.

not sure he has asked to leave but if he has asked to leave as he's not assured of a starting place then it doesn't show him in a good light does it as it will be the first time he's had to fight for a place and he's given up.

wouldn't be that sad of he leaves and that's not because he is crap, he just doesn't do enough. Barry has been a far better buy over the course of the 3 seasons they have been together that's for sure.

Anything over 15m+ and it would be a yes from me.

I think this is a difficult situation really. If he has asked to leave, he will be jumping ship at the first sign of competition for his place, you would hope he'd have more fight in him, to win back his place in the team. Also, doubt he'd get more money than he's on here?
On the flip side, we all want to get rid of McGeady and others, who seemingly are happy to stay. Whether they're actually 'fighting' for their place is another matter but, swings and roundabouts I guess.

This guy is a great player fed up with the way he's being treated. If he goes and Barry or gueye get injured then in comes cleverly or Gibson. Is that what we want?

Dont have a problem with McCarthy, ok maybe not the best player we have these days but cant see him getting too many more games for Everton, be good for all sides if he can move on, wish him well. I would take 15m

Madness I say!!! He just needs to sit tight and work his way through it. He can't be buckling under the pressure of new players coming in and asking to move. He should be working his butt off to resemble the player he was a few seasons ago

Fed up with being treated how? Playing every week despite stinking the gaff out for 2 years?

He absolutely cannot claim to have been treated badly, either by his managers or the fans. I think any fan with a brain wants us to sign a better player and then get rid of him, not just sell him now without any thought for the future. For me it's not 'replacing'him, it's improving on him. Bring in a top quality player who rotates with Barry/gueye and we don't need him. If we can't do that he's a decent back up.

He's watched Gueye for 3 games and has soiled himself and is trying to leave. He'd be a sub DM or 3rd choice RB and he knows it. Hopefully we can make a profit on him

Somebody will pay £20+ mil for him...going back to the highlights of his first season here, he'd be well worth it in today's market.

It's why I've been firmly in the 'sell' category for a while with him. He's really one of the few expendable pieces that would command a decent fee. I reckon the rest of the expendable talent wouldn't command much at all. Although we did manage to get £8 mil for Naisy, so who actually knows.

I would prefer that he returned to that first season form and him and Gana destroyed the league for the next couple of seasons, but I just don't see it happening with James. He's lost that extra bit he had...a change of scenery might just bring it back.
