James McCarthy

....as daft as it sounds, his injury might have come at a good time. He was under a bit of pressure and criticism at the beginning of the season and sometimes a bit of time out can refresh the batteries and allow the fans to temper their views.

He really does seem to have an issue, all the other sports men and women who have switched allegiance doesn't seem to bother him just James McCarthy.

I reckon he can't be a England cricket fan

Or an athletic fan or tennis fan or football fan. I don't want to make to much of it as I personally don't mind people switching provided it is within the rules. If Messi became born again Northern Irish I would be happy for him to get a game.

Oh hello.

The grandparents rule needs to be kicked into touch, based only on parents.

You see athletes changing countries every few years, that needs to be stopped also. Once you have competed for a nation you stick with it.

Eoin Morgan should be playing for Ireland, not England.

Oh hello yourself big boy.

I agree with you the grandparents rule should be changed but it is in force at the moment so I have no problem in anyone using it.

Not 100% with you on "once you have competed for a nation", depends on the age level, if you compete as an adult then you should stick with that country.

There will be exceptions of course, in Northen Ireland we have dual nationality with the Republic so someone born here can opt for the Republic. We have cases of players playing all the way up to under 21 level and then opting to go south.

Eoin Morgan, may be an exception, Ireland doesn't have a First Class cricket team so can't play test cricket. He would be denied access to a form of the game because of his birthplace.

So, big boy, we agree but we disagree.

Definitely agree on that, I've noticed in Athletics quite a few people changing nationality to Bahrain, Qatar and automatically think " They've done it for money "

Regarding Cricket, Ireland is an associated member but they will never be a full member if England keep cherry picking it's best players.

You make a sound point in regard to cricket but it is my understanding that the test nations have to vote for you to be accepted into that standard, so there is no set path to get there. Ireland could be excluded for some time and it is harsh to deny a player to play that form of the game.
There should be a proper path were, if you win certain tournaments you get moved up. A form of promotion/relegation. If that was the case then I agree with you.
