James McCarthy

Well, if you like that kind of thing, consider it won't be so nice if it happens to us ? James McCarthy is likely to be a marked man now, by the rest of the Premier League, now they've seen what he's like, we're not going to be happy if he goes out with a long term ?

I'm not optimistic now about the rest of the season, which is average anyways for us. Stones will go in January, then we'll see Barkley head turned, Barry is past it, so this moment brings bad fortune to us, whereas Payet will recover and hold his head up, more than we can.
yes.
definitely Fishy....

It was a full-blooded tackle of the sort they're trying to see removed from the game; he won the ball then took the man with his follow-through/trailing leg; if you make that a red card offence you might as well ban tackling altogether; Peter Reid wouldn't last two minutes in the modern game; it's a contact sport; it's not netball.
There, that's me all cliched out.

That West Ham forum's an odd one. Never seen such an over the top reaction as this.

Will put it down to their internet/social media fans being a sensitive bunch and won't let it cloud my judgement of their overall fanbase.

My guess is that a lot of them have never played footy in their lives, or if they did it was for a laugh with their mates on a 5 a side pitch where slide tackles didn't happen.

I love how they've tried to claim they're outraged at the "thuggery" from McCarthy and then wished a serious injury on him in their next sentence too. lol

Absolutely cracking challenge. I can't believe some of the response from West Ham fans. You'd think once viewing the replay they'd realise it was quite a good challenge but it seems not.

I wouldn't wish for Payet or any West Ham player to suffer an injury, but I won't she a tear in the future if/when one occurs.

The mail now has an article saying that West Ham officials believe McCarthy targeted him and they are still unhappy about his tackle last season on one of their playerslollollol

Modern day fans don't realise that players can mistime tackles. I've seen the one back from last year and see it the same way as I did last season. He was a fraction late which is all it takes and he caught the man. a Yellow card at best.

But these days, people want to slow down the footage, and make out like every tackle is a dangerous malicious one when most aren't.

The reaction from the West Ham fans is like the reaction you'd expect from a older concerned family member watching their 8 year old son take a kick to the ankle lol.

Pathetic.

Just heard that Martinez sent the boys out to stamp their authority on the game, but McCarthy misheard !

Think an FA investigation is coming, hope I am wrong.

sounds fishy! what are you 12? You haven't been learning to be a WUM for long have you?

Aye, it was clever how he did Payet in such a way that 20mins later his knee crawled up his leg and chest and throttled him to death.

ha, yep, it was a football tackle version of the five palm exploding heart technique.

Is this what you call Pop corning?

Was it a bad tackle? Yes.
Would we be raging if Deulofeu was injured in a similar tackle? Yes.
Were we raging when Cleverley was scissor tackled and snapped his knee? Yes.

That being said, the way some West Ham fans want McCarthy's head on a spike is just absurd.
Acting as if Payet was on a Martinez hit list and McCarthy's our CIA hitman.
Bad tackles happen. It's a part of the game.

hahaha this is turning into one of football's great episodes. It's like a player has never been injured before and football has lost one of it's greats. There's a reason why they call football a squad game.

Some of those posts have to be windups, if not i don't think their names should have been blocked out. Also, why are they acting like his leg was broke? It wasn't was it?

A decent start to the season and it's gone to their heads lol. I've been impressed with Payet as well, but they're making him out to be Zidane. Martinez sent his gang of thugs out to intentionally injure the finest team in the land.

Great reading.

Bobby Moore would be spinning in his grave at the antics from the Evertonians on here mate.

I think McCarthy should go to jail. Six years in the hole sounds about right. When he's released they should find a way to fashion some sort of permanent muzzle that will prevent him from savaging another young Frenchman.

West Ham fan here. I come in peace.

Would appreciate it if some of you take a look at McCarthy's tackle on Amaltifano last year, then look again at the one on Payet on Saturday. You really think McCarthy didn't mean it? He has deliberately set out to hurt two players.

Some of you (too few it seems) know you've got a Neanderthal playing for you whose sole objective is to take out more skilful players. Most are making fools of themselves defending the indefensible.

I always thought you had more class than the red half of the city. Boy was I wrong.

He hasn't set out to hurt two players mate, he's just put a strong tackle in. The latter tackle being one of such magic that it's turned your entire fanbase into cry arsing finger pointing kopites.

Just take a moment to ponder that and regain your composure.

And welcome.
