James McCarthy

Perhaps some of those who are constantly on his case because he doesn't score more, or hit 40 yard passes, will realise that James is a key defensive midfielder who does the non-sexy work of tackling, blocking and breaking up opposition play.

Reidy was this player in the 80s and Carsley in the last decade.

These players don't often stand out in spectacular fashion but a team really misses them when they are not playing.

One of our worst runs under Moyes coincided with a long term Cars injury.

Hopefully this is a minor strain, and he probably should be rested against Boro

McCarthy is one of those players Martinez knows he can send in again soon after picking an injury up. I wouldn't rule him out for Tuesday. Not at all. He's very resilient, an old school type.

I'd agree but last season McCarthy was rushed back in pretty quickly after picking up a hamstring injury. Turned out to be one game too soon and then he was out for another month. Wouldn't risk it.

That was a hamstring though. Muscle fatigue this sounds like to me.

Come on guys won’t anyone cut an old Lag a break around here? especially after he’s put a bit of an effort in?

@chicoazul really shouldn't have to wait half a week until my 7 stretch in GOT pokey is up to get to @hktoffee clarify his apparently changing point of view.

Don't see the problem of it he has been here for the third season now. He is not the same player when he was at Wigan. He has evolved and is a good DM.

My opinion on Alcaraz has not changed. Jury is still out for Kone and Robles.

And this ugly blue thing ar they were all from September 2013. Get a grip.
