Sterling was born in Jamaica
Moved here at the age of 5
Has played at pretty much every level for England since a schoolboy
Are you saying that the many many families who come to this country and become citizens are not citizens ?

Hate sterling with a passion mate, but lets be honest he qualifies more English than he does jamacian, he was brought up and spent most his life here, started football playing with England at the youth level,

the grandparents rule is a joke though, even the parents rule, in my opinion you should play were you was brought up and see your alliance, not oh im not gonna get into the England team so my arl fellers welsh so they'll cap me

nonsense that

Using this, I think its an utter joke that Raheem Sterling plays for England, hes simply NOT English.

James McCarthy is also NOT Irish.

Lukas Podolski is NOT German.

And VDH was certainly not WELSH.

There is no doubt whatsoever that James McCarthy was born in Scotland, Raised in Scotland, has Scottish parents and is without question 100% Scottish.

Yes.

Hes not English, he was born in another country....................

His children if born in this country will be English.

Wasn't Besic born in Germany?

Anyway, as Groucho asked - lets move away from the whole nationality debate. Hovering over threadbans in this thread for it, as well as off topic posts.

He’s just not a very good footballer.
I'm not sure that's entirely fair. When he's had a run of games he's been decent for us and therein lies the problem. I think his issues may be more mental than physical though, the amount of times he's been out for months with unspecified hamstring injuries is a bit odd. Either that or he has the hamstrings of a 60 year old man (a mate of mine actually pulled his calf walking to the football pitch, he still gets grief about it now 10 years later)

I can’t be doing with players who never actually play mate. That makes them poor for a starter. For me anyway.

Then when he does play I just think we have outgrown him. He could go and be fine at say Newcastle.

I couldn’t be arsed with him when he signed. Then he was ace for one season. Piped me right down. Then he’s been turd/dead since.

Can’t be arsed with players like that.

I agree with all of that. I just think it's a shame because I think there is a talented player in there somewhere if he could be bothered/get his body rebuilt by NASA. For the system RonKo plays I actually think a fit and on form McCarthy is a perfect fit.

And that's fine, as you're applying it to all players.

The problem I referred to was the singling out of James McCarthy as if he was the only player ever to do it (never mind the religious connotations that go with it).

I cant discuss this any further, the bossman has used his Besic card, FFS.

Be interesting to see what happens with regards McCarthy, the Rep did call him last time in the prov squad only to realise he only had 1 leg, I wonder what happens this time with Ronny saying he will be training from Friday.

I'm surprised they haven't called Coleman up

Yeah this. One of those "hard workers" that the British fans and media love to overegg to death, but would not be rated by any other culture of football fans due to his actual bog standard ability. Will not be missed and will do very little if anything to improve his next team, like Thomas Cleverley he'll just seamlessly blend into the background.
