2017/18 James McCarthy

Always injured and limited in his ability, but he'll always give 100%.

I'd rather see him on the pitch than Schneidercrab.

Let's just wait and see how things develop between Sam and McCarthy. I think a fit McCarthy is exactly the type of midfielder Sam likes. I think Sam would also fancy his ability to get McCarthy fit and playing.

A new manager, a new start for everybody. The win against West Ham and the game against Huddersfield coming so quickly meant there were going to be minimal changes. All players will get a chance but some may have to wait a little while in the league.

I would guess that we will see eleven changes for Thursday and I bet we will see serious effort from all concerned as they try to impress Samx2.

...the curse of the hamstring will follow him throughout his career, even subconsciously players who suffer protect them in games and rarely play full-on. I thought we should’ve cashed in 18 months ago. I still think the same.

We need to get him off our books ASAP. He was great in his first season but he cannot string more than 5 games a season. We cannot rely on him and should use his wages on somebody else.

If he can't stay fit then, sadly, I can't see how he should have a place here

I'd happily have a fit James McCarthy in my squad. Sadly he's never fit

It's probably right to move him on tbh, cold as that is to say

I have ti agree at this stage. I think he is limited on the ball but adds a huge amount of aggression and work rate off the ba and when fit it seems all managera who he plays for pick him. However it is at the stage where he is a non performer for us due to injury. If a buyer comes in he needs to be moved on.

In saying that if he was fully fit he would be one of the first names on team sheet this weekend against the others. He would help put a stop to the little f r's flying around the pitch

If the 2013-14 version came back now he wouldn't be at the front of the queue...even of the ones that just run about a lot

He definitely would

He was outstanding that season

Ross, Del and Rom got most of the plaudits due to the goals, but McCarthy was the engine that made that team tick

If he hadn't had these injury woes we'd be far better off as a club right now
