@orly - as a poster I respect hugely, i'm particularly interested to know what you think of McCarthy's togger skills? With / without the ball.

Worthy of a place?

I'm going to say SELL, and sell immediately.

I've never rated him.

Your thoughts MKFrandel??

I totally appreciate it was yonks ago but would you agree he was pretty good in Sir Roberto's first season?

I like the thought of him (probably the most bizarre thing i'll type all day) in terms of what he brings. The reality is though he can't stay fit. One more injury and i'd bin.

Back-seat moderation?

Really unsavoury this, particularly after @Groucho and @AndyC have asked it to be stopped.

You're not adverse to some pretty nasty comments yourself.

I think you should desist from trying to pick any more fights with me, orly.

It only leaves you seething.

But what I think is that Jimmy Mac's improved form will be a big plus for us if he can stay fit.

He is way better than Schneiderlin and I look forward to seeing him paired with Gana :)

To be honest Andy, it is @Moomin is the worst offender here.

He keeps goading our Irish fans with his snide remarks about Jimmy Mac's choice of which team to represent at international level, sommat which is bugger all to do with anybody but James himself, and that is what sets these altercations off.

I have said to him in the past that it is just old, stale and boring now.

Mark me.....he will soon be goading our new Turkish members about Cenk Tosun being a traitor to Das Fatherland because he plays for Turkey :pint2:

Oh....and I am really glad to see Jimmy Mac back in the team and playing so well ;)

Whatever is going on between you lot (@Moomin included) @AndyC and I have asked you to stop.

Not carry it on to have the last word, but to just stop.

Discuss the performances, not the politics.

We have lost every game recently that McCarthy has played, his error led to us conceeding a goal against Bournemouth.

He needs to play like his first season with us if he expects to get a new contract.

He has been a terrible player for some time. The days of him (wrongly) being described as the next Roy Keane have long since passed.

I like him. If he can stay fit he starts for me. His first season, he looked great, but then his passing stopped going forwards and started going sideways. Sounds a lot like schneiderlin, gueye, any cm we have had for the last 5 years. Possibly something to do with the coaching staff, or just because we have been appalling going forwards and they don’t want to risk losing possession. Lukaku made us appear good because he scored a lot, but were we actually?

Injuries have took some effect on his career, he should have put club first, instead of turning upto International games not fit and ready and causing further damage to himself.

But every player wants to get capped and win international cups. Can’t blame him for it really. If it’s friendlies then you have a point, but most players at their peak would likely put international games at the top of their list.

That's just part of his character - he gives 100% all the time for his club and his country. The fact he's willing to put himself in the line of fire is proof positive of that. Whether he's half fit or not he never wants to miss a game. In many ways he's a modern day Peter Reid.
