Some of the sniping at Schneiderlin in this thread is pathetic though. It was an accidental kick from Rondon that caused the break - mistakes made in the build up to Rondon's shot are not to blame for McCarthy's injury and it's in incredibly poor taste to use his misfortune as a stick to beat others with.

The whole thing was his career in microcosm. Awful use of the ball to turn into trouble and then give it away, great bravery and tenacity to get it back, get injured.

Yeah,pretty much,can't question his commitment but he is just one of those players that spends more time on the treatment table than on the pitch,remember Henrik Larsson getting similar leg break in Champion's League match against Lyon,doctors stuck a metal rod in and he came back better than ever within 8 months !

I feel so bad for Macca. He really did not deserve that. Absolutely horrible injury (I'm not mad at Rondon, it was an accident and he seemed pretty horrified), and after he'd been one of our better players too. Poor thing.

Watch the replay it started from a misplaced pass from McCarthy in our own half. He tried hard to makeup his mistake by making the tackle. Unluckily their striker caught him.

it was a slightly overhit pass, yes, but Schneiderlin would have had it in control if not for a lazy turn

Rondon did himself proud there. You'd like to think every professional would react like that but you know that wouldn't be true. McCarthy, I don't like him as a footballer at all, but it was a brave tackle that's either ended his career or put him out for at least a year. Look at the state of Williams too, some captain eh? You'd think he'd be sprinting over to his team mate to console him, but nah, just wait a few seconds and casually walk over.

Good on James Rodriguez he was straight across to McCarthy to console him

I didn’t realise at first you know, I automatically turned to go at Morgan because I thought he’d messed up but then realised what was happening, looked at him on the deck and saw his leg. Really nasty.
