Transfer Rumour James Rodriguez

I can see Ancelotti calling James and Brands calling Arias and combining them on the right flank.

The fees would total under £25mil to tickoff two positions. I think that would be very sensible.

In the meantime, the real money would be kept for other targets u23.
I really do like that in theory but there are a lot of questions starting with is under 25m a realistic estimate even with James contract situation.

The other pertinent question is are we sure signing two 28 year olds one with questionable injury history is a good idea for a team that is probably not a year away from Europe? I know your assessment is different than mine but this entire year has stalled us out with a combination of bad management, a management change, poor injury luck and potentially poor signings. We are kind of restarting from scratch with Carlo and that means we need to think longer than next year.

Im hesitant about James, but if Ancelotti has signed him twice and he’s produced his vest European form under him, then maybe it’s a good thing.
For me, he had a great World Cup, but the World Cup was in difficult climates which ultimately South American footballers are used to.
That was also 6 summers ago, and a lot has changed.
Will he be a significant upgrade on Bernard? If not then it’s a lot of money to waste.

While I am all for replacing most of our pedestrian midfield I don't think we should be buying extremely rich, nothing to prove players heading into their later playing years. One of those types would be enough, if it was Bale or Rodriguez then it would be the later. However I am not convinced, given the wages we would have to pay, he is the best we could do for the money.

Bale obviously isn't happening, neither is Ramsey.

There is an outside chance of James though.

I'm all for any attempt to replace Sigurdsson once and for all, so would love to see it happen.

Good, thank heavens if true. IMB any one could be worth signing to get rid of Siggy, well almost anyone.

We need quick strong midfielders. Not sure but is James quick?

Carlo singles out James in his book, speaks very highly of him.

So if he wants him, go and get him.

Can't believe we now have someone of the likes of Carlo that can genuinely attract talent to the football club.

I think given he has a year left, and the wages he has, a loan fee for a year for £15m would be very realistic.
