I can't confess to be an expert on the guy. Is he a luxury player or is he a grafter?

Would be the most naturally gifted player we've had this century. But the concern is how often we would have him available. He's had a lot of recent injuries.

But given his ability, it's worth the risk for me no question.

He does mate and that’s one of those things that makes him a cut above the rest of the squad I reckon.

That's it we need defence to be a team responsibility, hopefully with those 2/3 additions the centre will become a much more difficult proposition for opposition players. we have been woeful through the middle for a number of years.

The last time we had a side with a few promising young uns in it, it took the signing of a few old uns in Peter Reid and Andy Gray to gel the team. I don’t recall that worked out too badly for us? I do get what the likes of Zat mean about building for the future, but very few successful teams don’t have a few old heads in them?

I admit I’m always leaning towards the Zat way of thinking..we need more signings like (a healthy) Gbamin.. first team ready with their hole career ahead of them.Gabriel fitted this too... but no issue with a few more experienced heads... just need some balance..

Not really, having Allan and Doucoure in front of the defence would give them a lot more protection than they've had for a few years.

Suppose it might help, but there again they'd also need to ditch the passing out from the back which almost always creates chances for the opposition as our players cannot pass a football very well.

Maybe we're neglecting defence and instead going with a score-more-than-you style of play. Tactical.

TBF if we weren’t so reliant on Digne and Coleman for width then the defence would have quite a bit more solidity to it.

We've got the players with their whole career ahead of them playing for us now. Holgate, Richarlison, DCL, Branthwaite, Gordon, Kean etc. We need top quality to help them progress. I think signing quality experience is exactly what we need right now. Hopefully (if we sign him) James Rodriguez can stay fit and help them get to that next level.

We had one of the youngest playing squads last season. The defence and attack are particularly young. Don’t mind an experienced midfield tying them together, we’ve looked clueless in the middle

Hopefully if we sign some midfielders that can put a tackle in that will greatly reduce the amount of times the opposition get through our midfield giving our defenders a bit less to do. But I agree we are going to have to outscore teams probably with 2-3 goals to win there won't be many clean sheets.

As much as I hate it, it seems to be the in vogue thing since they ditched the keepers box rule. It's awful and the positives are not enough for me to put up with the heart in mouth moments lol

Would be a sensational signing, just in terms of being able to attract a player of that profile to the club.

It's worth the gamble on him. We've just endured several years of Sigurdsson - James simply cannot be worse than him. It's impossible.

Could care less about FFP, plus why do people get so hung up on spending money that isn't theirs. As long as the club is financially backed with saleable assets then why do people get so wind up about a system as flawed as uefa is corrupt.

The Koeman era is the perfect example of why sensible spending is needed.
At that time we spent too much money and signed far too many players. When the players came back to pre season the manager didn't know what to do with them all or how to integrate into him team.
Players just fell away or got squeezed out.

Chelsea finished 4th and to try help their younger defenders out are looking at signing 35 year old Thiago Silva, sometimes you need that type of player I agree
