Feels difficult not to get excited about this . Obviously he has Had injury problems or frankly we wouldn’t get a Sniff . It’s clear that if fit his quality is pretty astounding , it isn’t long ago the manager saw him at close quarters so as a fan hard not to buy into .

Think a lot of people are playing down his work rate and defensive attributes. He isnt a Mesut Ozil who literally will do absolutely nothing without the ball. James works hard with and without the ball and will instantly improve the team.

Everton haven't had goals from Midfield for a good four or five years now, last player to do it consistently season on season was Leon Osman when he chipped in with 4/5 a season - James brings us goals and assists and i for one cannot wait to have him here.

Make no mistake about it, despite his injury issues etc he's still levels above Everton Football Club and this does not happen without Ancelotti regardless of the amount of money that'll get thrown around.

No denying James is the first genuinely world class footballer we'll have signed (from a technical standpoint anyway) in a very long time indeed, still in his prime too...but a few question marks (probably hence why we're able to get him).

Can he stay fit over a full season? How big of a concern is his lack of pace, physical and defensive attributes? Where will he fit into the team? Does he have the heart for it at this stage of his career? And so on. This could go either way - it could be an amazing signing and he'd instantly be our best player, or it could flop spectacularly and he'll be back at Porto or Monaco within a year. Ancelotti is the only manager that has managed to get the best out of him at club level which is encouraging, and of course he's fantastic for Colombia as well. It's all a question of "fit" really.
It'll be about the fitness, he certain is fast enough, and grafts well enough.

Can see City or Chelsea getting him as back up

Haha, can imagine brands going to moshiri saying we're signing Rodriguez, and moshiri saying "but the esk says we can't. Pull the plug".

to be honest I can see his point they can’t fit him into the team with Witsel and Mata and given the Usmanov’s cash flow issues because he’ll never sell his Arsenal shares not to mention we’ll deffo not meet FFP as the bloke will never invest in Everton .

Genuinely lost track of how good he's been over the last year or two so don't know if he's had a drop off, but there's no doubt he has infinitely more ability than any player currently on the books.
