Where do we see him fitting in? Assuming Big Al and Doucoure come in, will James sit at the top of a midfield triangle, or at RW? Or, if Carlo stays with 4-4-2, does it become a bit more of a 4-4-1-1 with James linking up midfield and Richy? If the latter, maybe there are some legs to the "Kean to Juve" rumours...

As far as I can remember Carlo strayed from a traditional 4-4-2 when he had Kaka. I think he used a diamond formation instead. A diamond would make sense with Gblammo's supposed passing range sitting deep, and two box-to-box midfielders in Doucoure and Allan. Digne providing good width down the left.

Either way, I really hope this signing comes off. I don't think it can be understated how important it is to have a couple of 'winners' in a team. Mentality is probably the most important attribute in sport. Thankfully its something Carlo seems to refer to quite regularly.
 

I think if I compare this year to last year

if we bring in as expected

2020-21: NKounkou, Doucoure, Allan, James Rodriguez
2019-20: Iwobi, Sidibe (loan), Gomes (FT), Delph, Gbamin, Kean

I have to be happier with the 20-21 haul, just because there’s a bit more class about it.

I still think Kean and Gbamin can’t really be judged. But the prices are €30m for established players who will improve us, and not £28m for an arsenal cast off, and £28m for a lad, who just appears to be having a nightmare in Kean.

If he fancies it then its no brainer. Struggled at real madrid whenever i watched him but not the first or last to do that.
Prob wont happen. Be nice though. As a statement aswell.
 
I'm not going to have a go at anyone who doesn't fancy him

We've had players with reps come in a flounder previously (Eto'o for instance) so it's perfectly reasonable to be wary

I'm going to be optimistic and think it's a potentially good signing, but fair play if you don't

His career might not have panned as many of us thought since 2014, but he'd hands down be our best player.
 
There's something about him that Carlo likes. He's taken him to 2 other clubs and i read he wanted him at Napoli as well. He'd be the closest thing yet to a proper Marquee signing.
