Confirmed Signing James Rodriguez

I think a lot of fans are wary of us bringing players, talented, but with injury prone records asking for huge wages, then breaking down a fortnight after getting here, or even worse not being able to acclimatise to the premier league’s pace and physicality when they are fit.
Every player is only a game away from an injury or in evertons world training session.

Indeed, only concern is he will be another winger who fancies himself in the middle of park, and wing work is for young ones and donkeys...
Go and search for his last appearance for Madrid against Real Sociedad a few weeks ago. Right midfield in a 442. Doing all the donkey work, covering the full back and making more tackles than any of our midfielders made all season... Proper workhorse.

His touch and form will improve when he has more game time but he is a real leader that grabs games by the balls and never hides.

I wonder if all this talk about Rodriguez suggest that because of the problems we are having trying to sign Doucoure, that this has now ended.

people are underestimating Ancelotti because we all hate Everton. The reality is that for a lot of these footballers at Milan, PSG and Madrid they probably played their best ever attacking football under this coach. He’s not a rigid disciplinarian like a Pep, Mourinho or Tuchel type. He lets players go out and play. Some players really need that, and if you’re one of those players apart from Zidane there isn’t really any other manager at that level in football who manages that way. Ancelotti is the best there is for this type of fluid attacking football. He’s a huge draw for players who want to play that way.

Ancelotti, Digne, Richarlison, Allan and James are all massive draws in their own right...even Mina and Kean for certain players.

Whole new perspective if we get both.

I think we’re still in for Doucoure according to Fabrizio Romano. Possibly this is something that has just materialised. Ancelotti said earlier this season he didn’t think James would be for sale.

I only knew better because I checked him out when we first got linked lol

I reckon we go 433 if we get him and Allan in and he plays on the right of a front 3 but honestly wherever he lines up, just bringing in players of this quality to the squad is massive for us.

Defo agree on that last point but at the same time I've seen us try to shoehorn central players out wide too many times and I get concerned that we - against all odds - bring in massive talent and then waste it to a degree by playing him out of position.

Given how fond Carlo is of him (and therefore how well he must know his game), I am sure my fears are unfounded, though.

Good for him... It's what is lacking at Everton, not it seems at Real.

It's not without risk, but bringing in players like Allan and Rodriguez is the only way we can keep Richarlison. If we keep Richarlison, we can do some serious damage in the transfer market when the 2017 deadweight clears in 22 months.

The downside risk is a wage slot. We lose Richarlison if this fails, and we lose Richarlison if we don't sign the player, so that's not at risk.

This seems like an easy risk management call to me. Roll the bones.
I really hope so. Ultimately keeping Richarlison is dependent on winning. If we win we stand a better chance. There is no doubt he is talented. I worry honestly about a player towards the tail end of his career coming from a big club. Will he be committed or will he be collecting a wage packet.
