Confirmed Signing James Rodriguez

It saddens me that this coming season a seventh place finish and a couple of good runs in the cups will be seen by many as success.
I wouldn't say success, improvement maybe, nowhere near good enough though. I badly want a pot to cheer as I'm sure everyone does, so many youngsters don't know that feeling and that's a shame.

To put his stats into context....since his career has “gone down hill” from 2014 he has had more goal/assist and won more trophies that Firminho....

Involvement in a goal either by scoring or assisting every 102 minutes he's played. Yes his injuries are a risk, but when you have the opportunity to make a statement by signing someone with elite ability, then I think you have to take the risk. This is nothing like Delph. He certainly does not have elite qualities.

Go have a look at his record for Bayern the 2 seasons prior to this one, wouldn't say he was poor for them. Granted he's not done anything for Madrid but Zidane doesn't want him so can't blame Hamez for that
Could say the same about anyone signing Bale as he has hardly played of late. If your face doesn't fit then the manager doesn't pick you.

He's on 200,000 grand a week mate. Even if we get him on loan Real won't fancy paying much of his wages. This is a strange deal that does not fit our profile. I suspect Marcel is against it as well. Kind of smacks of desperation cos we are struggling to encourage the best young talent here as was promised. I can only surmise Carlo trusts him to hit the ground running! Nobody else seems interested in him right now which gives us a clue as to what Real unrealistically want for this busted flush in the last year of his contract. Anyway, the deal is a long way off according to the Echo. He's obviously keen to retain the highest wages possible for his next move, which may be his last! How hungry is he really?
Sell Gylfi and give Rodriguez his wages+10k and he'll be worth it. He comes in and is probably our best player. Carlo wants him and for £20m and 130k wage its a gamble I'd take. The Echo haven't got a jar of glue mate, only ever report a deal is miles away from being done, never get any scoops, I'll trust Fabrizio Romano over the Echo 100% of the time. By the way our current alternative is Walcott...

Who we selling Gylfi to thats going to match his salary?

Difference with Bale is he is sulking and can't move for the fact his wages are astronomical, he doesn't want football anymore, golf and wales take precedent for him, he is the definition of a wage maverick and the type of player who is going to cause football to come crashing down with an unsustainable bang. Bale makes me sick, over privileged idiot.

James is available to play when he is fit and from what I can see doesn't sulk.

Not a clue need to find a mug of a club who might be interested, can't see it myself but hey oh I can dream. Rodriguez would come in and be our best player though if the club feel like they can afford him then buy him

Davies needs binning to league 55

and watch James win us games on his own
Nothing would give me more pleasure than watching James turn it on. Actually getting rid of Tom would give me pleasure too. He's had many chances and he is nowhere near Premier standard. The recent injuries James has had do concern me. Just don't want another player seeing his contract out on big wages. A loan with less wages is the safest for me

He did miss about 25 games through various injuries during his 2 years at Bayern. He isn't the permacrock he's sometimes made out to be but he is quite prone to regular niggling injuries.
Agree, I have concerns over it is a massive gamble if we bring him in. My point is when on the pitch he has a lot of quality . I see Sky posting about today shooting it down as its involves us. If he was going to Wolves or Leicester they would be bigging the deal up. Usual comment about doing nothing since the WC without any look at his stats when hes played!

I mean I don't disagree with most of that, but people have been saying "football's going to crash, it's unsustainable" for the best part of 20 years

True enough but we are seeing the troubles with the Bales/Ozils etc of the world now where they can't be shifted and even closer to home some of the average guff we can't shift on because the wages are too high for their ability. At one point it has to stop.
