I’m genuinely interested. Can anyone come up with a scenario where a player jumped on a jet during a match of consequence and took off so he could prepare for an international match? Specifically one where he didn’t have to miss the club match but just chose to?

Then bonus points for a scenario where the fans begged for him back and insisted he was committed to the club.

Is it not hypocritical to swoon over Ferguson who got himself sent off multiple times, mostly stupidly and at the detriment of the team because he has pashun, but on the other hand, hate a genuine top class player who has no prior ties to the club because he has injury issues and was allowed to go see his family a week earlier?

Simone Biles is a multiple times gold medalist, almost universally recognized as the greatest athlete to ever compete in her sport. So good that they changed the scoring system so people would be more and to compete with her.

I mean James is a world cup golden boot, who has been recognized as best midfielder in Ligue 1, La Liga and the Bundesliga, and was by far Everton's most effective offensive player last year despite only playing 26 games... But that's a bit of a stretch.

FALSE. The beef with Colombia was that James wouldn't be fit for their first qualifier , two weeks after the finale, but wanted to try and make their second match and the Copa (almost a month later), and they told him no. He was hurt. It's not debatable.

Ancelloti told him he could go home. He did.

I'm as gutted as anyone it looks like hes off.
I personally would try and make room for him but he was walking about v Man Utd and it was obviously the final straw.

I think it's important to remember there were several times last season where James indicated he wasn't able to play whether it be coming off or 'too tired' as Carlo put it.

We've wanted a dedicated team for years so it's not fair to then ridicule Benitez for supposedly not accepting the same that Carlo did re James.

If it was Carlo getting rid of him I think the response would be different.

I honestly cannot believe Everton fans are head over heels for a guy that gave a thumbs up and all smiles on his jet as Everton was getting smoked. Then was devestated when he tried to train for country and they didn’t take him.

Just imagine any other player for any other club doing that.
