It rebounds and suddenly it falls to Digne who now has James in space who tries to cross it and wins the corner.... Plays a short one to Gylfi cos Lamptey is still waiting for Rodriguez to sign his autograph book but he plays a quick one to Gylfi and BOOM we are 1-0 up.

That passage of play is all done in 15 seconds.

Great point, the speed i which he switched wings from his own pass was a tremendous appreciation of understanding the correct space to attack, he is next level good

Just a simple thing isn't it mate but within 10 seconds he'd moved from tight right wing to left centre attacking mid without a second thought.

That is how Lucas Vazquez ended up playing ahead of James. Freaking Lucas Vazquez.

James is not a high work rate guy, but he is not lazy either. He is often in our own half defending and knows when to disrupt the attacks. He is smart when it comes to defending instead of running around like a headless chicken

I think it makes sense in the context of the Madrid squad; they had a few players already who were focused more on creating. During the three in a row CL run, Vasquez contributed very well with his work rate for the balance of the team. We are built so that James is a big hub of our attack, Madrid had Isco, Asensio, Kroos,Modric, Marcelo, Ronaldo and Benzema who could create.

It's not Zidane bad. It's the double standards. Isco doesnt offer high work rate and offers less offensively, yet he played.

It's not that James wasn't a starter. It's that he played once every 10 games. When everyone was injured hed play and play well, then not see another minute for a long time. Other players got to play through bad form and regain their momentum. James was playing less than Theo Walcott. There is just no excuse for that no matter how you paint it

If these aren't WCQ I can see him resting one of the two games. He's played a lot of football recently.

Unfortunately they are both WC qualifier matches and James is a critical player for Colombia to qualify so he will be definitely playing both games.
