I go back to the mid 70s and I've not seen as good a pure footballer here. Not somebody with his vision and ability.

How about you older guys? How does Alan Ball and Alex Young compare to our new maestro?

There again Ball was a different type of player
I remember as a kid the silence that would envelope Goodson for 2 or 3 seconds when Young got the ball
In 50 odd years watching Everton I can honestly say I have never seen a more naturally talented footballer than James
Even Rooney was not at this level
If he stays 4 or 5 years with Carlo I can honestly see him been mentioned in the same sentence as Dixie
As someone else said he will get the love he always craved here, he will be supported through thick and thin
Players like James are artists and need to feel loved needed and wanted to get the best out of them
Whatever we give him he will give back in spades
I just hope we keep the faith if he has 3 or 4 bad games in a row
In Carlo he has a manager who loves and trusts him and James trusts Carlo as well
Carlo will get the best out of James ,and not as a conventional middle of the park 10 but as a 10 who plays where he sees the space and the opportunities
You do not put a saddle or blinkers on a thoroughbred stallion ,you give him free rein
We have as a fanbase craved for a player like this for years .
A player who re opens and reinvents the School Of Science
If he stays the 5 years here people will forget he played for Real Madrid , or Bayern Munich ,it will always be James Rodriguez of Everton and Colombia fame.
It is players like James that will win you the big special games,
If Mosh and Usmanov support Carlo to the hilt I see no reason the league is not ours within 3 years
We have 5-6 top 4 players ATM 3 or 4 more and we can do it all

While we may not like it playing for their Country is just as if not more important than playing for their club to most South Americans
That is why Ricarlison wants to be a CF as he knows Neymar has the LW spot nailed for Brazil
I can see Carlo going back to 4-4-2 for this very reason

Is that not the wrong way around? A defender scoring a goal is surely less of an indicator of how good he's doing at his job than a striker scoring a goal.
A goalkeeper that can't keep a clean sheet but gets a couple of long range assists should not be one of the leagues best keepers...
Genuinely had no one in mind with that example... but I can think of a keeper in bad form that is capable of a long pass or two.

That's literally the stupidest thing I have seen since RAWK's alternative league thing where the maths is as nonsense as the results.

Love the positive energy of this post, and love it if we are more optimistic, supportive and have faith - especially when we go back into GP - if Rodriguez messes up, we cheer him, if DCL misses a sitter, we clap him, if Holgate tries to dribble out of defence - support it! etc etc

I'm 42 so didn't really enjoy the 80s success enough...i realised that it's all fate. I've been suffering all this time as a blue so that they are amazing in my 3 y o daughter and my soon to be new born baby's lifetime.

I have not explained much about Everton to my 3 y o girl, and she just sees the badge and says 'Everton' and smiles..and when i used to ask her when she was 2 what's Everton ? she'd say 'Football!'
and now wants all the gear.
it's fate, and emotional and it just feels like finally after all these years, it's not a cold, hard, slog, but finally a fun, happy time to support Everton. it doesn't matter how well or badly we do this year, i just hope we enjoy ourselves and have a club to be proud of again!
