Let it go mate.

James doesn't defend despite of the stats that show he does and we are better playing Iwobi or keeping Theo Walcott at RW than playing this slug. Send him packing to the MLS
Tbf it would be comical watching him not run and score 20 goals and add in 20 assists a season in MLS.

We gave up 2 against freaking Newcastle and scored 0

Yes, we would continue leaking goals and would definitely score less.

That much is not debatable.
Definitely score less without Dominic I’d say. That much is not debatable, didn’t Dominic’s goal count v Newcastle?
The funny thing is I doubt you can even produce a chance the other teams have created from him giving it away much less a goal. You know this is the James thread and not Allan or Doucoure right?
How about the penalty we conceded after he lost the ball just outside the penalty area vFulham last week, the fact is he concedes the ball, loses it a lot without any fight and puts the other team on the attack when he should be putting us on the attac. I never said, at any time, that other players don’t make mistakes, as you said yourself, this is the James thread.

So once. And watching it back Doucoure is absolutely disastrous after it is given away not to mention Godfrey gets totally done.

But whatever, we're bad because the good players aren't perfect and not because the bad players aren't good. You're on to it.

Yes I forgot that late goal. We definitely score less without Dom. But the point being is that we somehow become better without James is comical

Well I never, ever, said we become better without him, I said the way he plays at the moment he is a luxury we can’t afford and it’s Carlo’s job to use tactics that suit Hames and are benefit to the team, I mean he is part of the team and that includes some attempt at tackling, although I admit his attempts at tackling are definitely comical, maybe not to his team mates who are put under more pressure by those flimsy tackles.

Ok so lets look at some stats, rather tha opinions or perceptions.

Tackles won per game this season;
James: 1.4
Salah: 0.6
Vardy: 0.5

Interceptions:
James: 0.9
Salah: 0
Vardy: 0

The reality is, that James is tackling back 2-3 times more than Vardy/Salah and is intercepting the ball infinitely more. Combined he's about 4-5 times the amount of tackles and intercepts than the above two players.

Yet nobody in their right mind would consider dropping Salah or Vardy, for their relatively (compared to James) poor defensive contribution. I would have no idea, why would would drop someone for lack of defensive contribution who does substantially more defensive work than other players with similar roles for other teams.

James's defensive contribution looks worse, because his attacking work is so good.
That is crazy though in what way do Salah and Vardy have similar roles to James. Salah and Vardy play on the shoulder of the last man and look to run in behind. Salah has scored 82 in 118 League games. Vardy won the Premier League golden boot last season. If you are going to compare them to one of our players then it has to be DCL and not James.

James is ostensibly an attacking midfield player and our wide playmaker who likes to drift in. He isn't going to run off the back of defenders or get 20+ goals a season.

The issue isn't how many tackles he makes it is what happens when he drifts in, and we lose the ball. We have no defensive shape. If you want to continue with the Liverpool or Leicester comparisons then when Salah goes through the middle Firmino drops off and their central midfield shifts to the right to close the space.

With Leicester when they lose the ball then whoever plays around Vardy the likes of Barnes, Maddison, Praet or Perez drop off so Leicester keep their shape.

DCL has to be the player who stays up and the likes of James and Richy have to drop and keep our defensive shape. Carlo prefers a man orientated press that targets the area around the player in possession when that happens James and Richy have to drop in and fill the holes.

I think what you've ended up saying here is more that Ancelotti needs to adjust than James shouldn't be in the team.

Look James is an absolutely wonderful talent his problem for the last few years is that his skill-set fits a role that doesn't really exist in the modern game. A decade ago he would have been the perfect 10, with a few exceptions that role doesn't really exist any more.

His attacking talent is amazing, and he is a joy to watch. I am struggling to work out a way we could create a system that would suit him.

The same way that the low work rate attackers on every good team are suited in the modern game. Moving them to a wide starting point and giving them freedom from there. Or exactly what we are doing.

Which brings us to the real problems: a poor goalie, poor midfield positioning, fullback injuries (and Carlo's weird reluctance to not use the backup fullbacks) and questionable quality in central defense. These things are conceding goals, not James.
