He was very average, certainly on his standards, for the first 75 minutes, but his final 20 minutes was what we have come to expect from him.

Really just hoping his turn down in form since the Derby is predominately fitness based.

If we are any chance of keeping our spot in the league, we need him firing.

He has to be given that role drifting off the right. At least he does for now. Maybe with Allan, Doucoure or Gbamin playing we'd have enough in midfield that he can get away with playing centrally but for now we don't have it so he's got to be out right.

Also Coleman is so bad that we have no right side presence when he isn't there.

Think any criticism of James is harsh. He receives the ball and he looks for the pass, the runners, the players in space. If none of them are available he isn't affective. If they are available he will find them. He proved it today with his passing. The other players will determine if it is classed as a good game or not. Put it this way...if he played for Rotherham today then the game would have been over for us. If our players are not cute enough to find space or do a run then what will be the point of James?

I'd say for now. With a properly functioning team I still think he could do very well but we've got poor options in midfield beside him and the right side is plainly broken when Coleman is out there without.

You would need two gana type players behind him to make that work. You'd essentially be playing 3 on 2 in midfield everytime you lost the ball.

We've just played Rotherham with him in that position and they completely over run the midfield all game and he was completely ineffective till he was pushed out wide.

I don't think it is that dire. Gomes and Davies are well below average ball winners. I think Gana and Doucoure would be plenty for example.
