Looking back at this thread over the past day...... Seriously some of you need to realise what we have wearing a blue shirt.

He's a Columbian Prince with magic in his left foot. He justified his inclusion in under 2 seconds of the 90 minutes.

There has never been a player in my lifetime who can play a through ball like Rodriguez in a blue shirt. I'm 45 in a couple of weeks...... Sheedy, Rooney, Beardsley, Arteta all had great feet and vision...... This lad is better than them all at seeing the picture and executing a pass of exact measure.

World class.

No one on the park came even close to getting within a thousand miles of that touch and pass. I actually almost feel sorry for people that don’t see the magic players like James give us. The game used to be played by footballers that were athletic, now it’s on the whole played by athletes with a bit of football in them
For me watching Rodriguez make passes like that is like watching Tiger Woods in his prime.

I know what it's like to hit a perfectly executed golf shot that feels and flies the way I wanted it too..... It's happened about 10 times in 1000s of attempts and I'm actually ok at golf. Watching someone execute something so difficult at a specific moment and to do it time after time makes you appreciate how talented some people are. He doesn't need a few chances at them.... If the opportunity arises he delivers.

I've said in another post, I've made passes like James does but they are littered with failed attempts where you give the ball away. You can actually take consolation that you seen the pass and just overhit it, underhit it or you never timed it right. But on the few times you do execute it - you get a pure feeling that it's what football is meant to be.

When the actual goal itself feels like an anti climax cos the pass was that good, that's when you know you've witnessed brilliance. Like Pele's pass for Jairzinho, the finish is secondary.

If he was just a little bit quicker, and his right was as deadly as his left, he’d be the absolute, ultimate footballer. Without the added foot speed, he’s only just about perfect.
If Carlo wasn’t here, James wouldn’t be here.

But they are both here and it’s glorious isn’t it? Sometimes still pinch myself to check I ain’t dreaming!

Thats a good post. Ive thought for a while that the last player we had who was so clearly head and shoulders above his team mates was Beardsley. Its not fair to compare as players, but watching James play is a delight, because it is the present. I have no doubt that the other players will improve for playing with him.
