If this is referring to my post it’s misunderstanding, I am really curious what’s going on with him ... Carlo give as nothing most of the time at least James most of the time picked up some injuries during the training not at the games

Guessing it's the calf again

That calf has been bothering since 2015.

Really hope we can figure it out this summer. He is too good to have so many games out due to the same muscle

He obviously has problems with his Calf that seems to be an issue for a few years...I guess there is no real solution to it and just has to be managed has best as possible? I am sure Ancelotti knew what he was going to get and if he plays 20-25 games then I think that's pretty good going for him - especially in a strange season without pre-season training and lots of games close together etc.

Oh sure we knew what we were getting but this constant in and out of the team is a pain in the backside as it makes it really hard for Carlo/Brands to plan/build anything around him as you just never know if he is ever going to be fit.

@R.Reddington

I don't know what you think about this

But I think the calf issue shows that it has been poorly managed.

Repeat muscle injuries are a display of poor stretching and training routines. There is a reason why guys like Lewandowski, Cristiano, Lebron, and Tom Brady play as long as they do and are hardly ever injured. Their fitness and dieting is on point

And I'm not criticizing James btw. I'm sure he trains hard in the offseason but I'm talking about doing the right type of training

Btw before we say I'm sure physios know what they are doing, there is actually a class in college for sports medicine about how poorly some pro teams athletic and fitness programs are and the stupid things they do because they just copy each other.

Hopefully we figure this out this summer and we can get more consistency from James

Disappointing that he has injury problems but without him we’d be languishing around 12th so swings and roundabouts. We got him on a free and he’s probably cost us less than we’ve paid in total for Fabian Delph over two seasons.

It's hard to put injuries down to one factor. Sometimes when someone gets an issue it can always linger in the background and there's always some kind of weakness there.

A full preseason and a more normal season next year could be a help to him. But we will need to manage him going forward. If we have two games in a week we will need to pick one for him to start and one for him to be a sub or maybe even leave him out altogether. If he can start over 50% of our matches I see that as a good target.

That I agree with. No football for 2+ years and no offseason

No surprise we are seeing this

He will be better next season no doubt. How much better is yet to be seen, but better nevertheless

We knew he had issues when we signed him.

I don't really have any issue with it, when he's fit he almost always performs.

Would rather manage it than force him to play and potentially make things worse.

This exactly.

When he plays he always performs, he’s contributed with goals and assists and he improves our general play.

And even when he doesn’t play we’re generally winning games anyway, so it’s not like him being injury prone is hampering us as a team.

I’m honestly very happy with how the move has gone so far, he’s a class act and when he’s on the pitch he’s shown it consistently.

Crazy that people are starting to smell blood with Hamez. Very lucky to have him here.

I konw we shouldn't stop criticising & questioning James and Ancelotti too, but i just feel like they are the two best peple we have had here - ever maybe? Everyone else became great at Everton, but these are the first greats who have come to us, and I would really love to just let them show us what they can do over 18 months and then we'll be so much better off

Too many FIFA virgins who don't understand real football.
