Carlo said he should be ready to play on Sunday, so, I assume we won't see him again before he leaves us in the summer.

He’ll stick around all right, he’s got a two year contract I believe and no other club in the world will offer him more wages than he’s getting here, we are just a charity case club, the last three games he has just sat out, reported to start with as a slight knock, have cost the club around £250,000 in wages. Not his fault our squad is absolute ale house quality. Amazed if he’ll want to stick around
Athletico Madrid where close to signing him til Carlo spoke to him.there is only 1 reason that he sticks around: not many coaches certainly not from the top teams give him the freedom to not really pull his weight defensively. That is probably why he in the end he lost his place at Bayern/Real.
So it is either Premier League with us or go to like the US / China leagues.
Every game of that is going to be on the bbc apparently. Running alongside their coverage of the Euros. With a bit of luck James will be fit for the Copa America this summer in his native Colombia.
No doubt he will then pick up a slight knock that will rule him out until January.

Yes,true and far too much, that is for a top star who is in the game for the full ninety minutes, James when he plays is game for about thirty minutes. I appreciate his great football brain, truly, but football is about running back and defending and tackling, James is an handicap in all three of those. As you say he wouldn’t be anywhere near us if he could stay fit and produce his obvious talents for the full game and play most weeks. His game time has been poor for the last few years at Madrid and Bayern Munich and that’s why Bayern let him go and Real were happy to get him off the wage bill and we will be stuck with him unless we find another mug club to take him off our hands. Carlo do really think we will find on?250k is about the weekly wage for someone of his quality though.
He is literally a million miles away ability wise to every other player at the club, it's a shame he's not fit every week, but if he was he certainly wouldn't be anywhere near us
"football is about running back and defending and taclking"... that kind of thinking wins you zero trophies....Yes,true and far too much, that is for a top star who is in the game for the full ninety minutes, James when he plays is game for about thirty minutes. Ancelotti said one of his biggest mistakes as a coach was rejecting Baggio because he did not fit into his 4-4-2 system. Ironically, I think his biggest mistake now is to stick with this type of player when the rest of the football world has moved on."football is about running back and defending and taclking"... that kind of thinking wins you zero trophies....
btw bayern didnt "let him go" They were about to buy him (got into league first 11 under heinckes, then kovac came and well.. ), but james is a lil spoiled brat who refused to stay in germany , in real madrid he wasnt in zidanes consideration and thats fair.
football is a sport in wich you can have special units do special jobs, you dont hire james/debruine/ silva to track back and tackle , thats another job for another kind of player. (same aplies to Strikers as Richardlison who cant do his main job and is still praised as a superb player by most on this forum....)
you put 2 hounds behind of james (allan/doucure) and grant him freedom to supply the strikers, is simple, and carlo knows it. (sh1t happens when those 2 guys are also injured T-T) . once again , running and tacking can only take you so far... not very far indeed, PL teams (and every other CL winners) are proof of this, none won until taking in quality footballers who can control, move and shoot with acuraccy.
Its a good job we dont play 442 then isnt it.Ancelotti said one of his biggest mistakes as a coach was rejecting Baggio because he did not fit into his 4-4-2 system. Ironically, I think his biggest mistake now is to stick with this type of player when the rest of the football world has moved on.
The trend in international football over the last decade is that the pace has increased (runs more, and more high-intensity sprints), the whole team has to attack and defend; the attackers should preferably defend / mark two opponents, much more focus on width (which among other things does not favor formations such as 4-3-2-1, 4-1-2-1-2, etc.), and a number 10 is quite predictable to defend against, as that player is usually the creative force of the team.
When you also have to use more players to compensate for the number 10 lack of work ethic, this will make the team more static and become quite predictable. You lose a player you could use in the attacking phase. As for JR, yes certainly a very good player, but he is very often injured. It is therefore very unwise to build an outdated system around a player who is often injured.
