2020/21 James Rodriguez

He was decent in a couple of games but a lot more he was not decent..

James?

He had some bad games but even in those produced moments of real quality.

The Sheff Utd game for example. Created that chance for Richarlison which was missed by him and then Dom on the follow up.

I'd say that and then the game at Old Trafford were probably his worst performances of the season and even at OT he popped up with that touch and finish not one of our other players has in their locker.

Players have off days. Our issue is we were so reliant on him to do everything for us creativity wise last season.

lol

He's not staying, he's just fulfilling his contractual obligations. He had to return.

He'll be out the door inside 1-2 weeks; those pics this morning are almost certainly the last you'll see of him in Everton gear.

We'll see.

If the club actually have ambition, we keep him for the last year of his deal and see what we can do with some new players plus James.

There's little benefit to us letting him go.

From a marketing perspective, it'd be mad for him to go before we play in the Florida Cup, too

There's little benefit to keeping him if he doesn't want to be here either.

He'll be 'injured' a lot, let's put it that way.

I think if he stays we get 25-30 games out of him again. So about par for the course with James' career.

We'll see.

IMO you keep your better players, and I actually think James would probably see out his contract, but he'll probably be also happy to leave if there's a move on the cards.

It'll all be on Mendes ultimately in that regard, and then the club will have a decision to make.

In the modern age you can't keep any player who wants away. I remember a certain central defender and a home game v Arsenal.

We’ve got people genuinely saying get rid in the James, Richarlison, Allan, Pickford, Digne and DCL threads at the moment. Add Godfrey to that list and in my opinion that’s a list of all of our best talents, it beggars belief how people think selling all of our best players will help us do better!?

These are angry, unhappy people that abuse the cocaine mate.

They do not have happy lives and suffer from erectile problems.

But we have lots of crap players who can't do anything mate
Yes I know and Rodriguez knows that as well. This was clear last season when it was obvious he was frustrated with the lack of ability and support he received during games.

I know what you mean but I would prefer more than one magic moment. For me he is a luxury and not sure we can support such players when we are so far off being consistent challengers
One moment of magic is all you need though.

We can support a player like him if we use him properly instead of chucking him out wide and expecting him to track back and "put a shift in".

Obviously we would need a lot more around him to shine. Typically we would get rid of him, build a good side and then be crying out for a player like him to be the cherry on the cake.

So I'd tend to want the club to get better players in and see what we can do with someone who does have world class qualities, but unfortunately can't be relied upon 100%.

That's fine, as long as you have a strategy to work around it.
