From a fan perspective I would be too. I want to see him playing in a couple of weeks along with Mina and the other squad members.

I've accepted that I'll probably not get to see him play, I think most UK-based Evertonians had by the end of last season if he was to leave.

So at least you guys over there might!

But yes, keeping James - as well as for footballing reasons - makes sense on a lot of other fronts.

We aren't exactly in the good books with our fanbase now, and rightly so. I don't trust the leadership one bit, I think they're a mess, and that includes Brands.

So, keeping James is at least a bit of good PR when it really is needed and, in the meantime, he just happens to be an excellent player.

If he stays, is it possible James can play in the middle CAM role for Benitez?

Would feel better with a pacier winger on the right side. Would also leave Gylfi on the bench - two birds, one stone.

I hope those of us attending the Florida Cup have such a luck but even without James I’m super thrilled to get the opportunity to watch Everton play in person for the first time ever, and them playing against a Colombian team, even though is not one that I followed, is the cherry on top of the cake.

I totally get why the fan base is not very thrilled at the moment with the Club and I agree keeping JR would be good for many reasons, even if some posters here feel it would be best to sell him. So I sure hope James and Benitez can workout their differences for the good of the team and their improved relationship translate into a good season for our Blues!

Man turns up for work.
And all masked up :) Hopefully James got his Covid shots when he visited the US a couple of weeks ago.
