They told him he would be moved on. I imagine he also said he wanted to leave if the opportunity presented itselfThe club PR spin against him was/has been incredible, and I am interested to see how they play that now it seems he's staying.
James hasn't helped, I agree, but then I can't really blame him for some of the crap.
The stuff in the press and from Benitez about James was frosty at best, so I can only imagine what was said behind closed, doors to his face.
Well we’re playing on the Monday mate lolLet's hope he knows we are playing next Saturday.
Oh no; you caught me.Well we’re playing on the Monday mate lol
Yes CSo he’s staying, for now, which is a positive for us because he’s still really good and can help us at least win a few games
His contract is up next summer and it’s unlikely we’ll take up our third year option, therefore, he’ll probably sign a pre-agreement in January or just leave then anyway
until then, we have to use him. Maybe in games where we’ll see the ball more, you can sacrifice Townsend’s work rate for James - put Richy out wide in his place - and then when we’re on the back foot swap them around again. Think that’s a good balance
Plus, he shouldn’t be the only target for us having a bad window. Blame everything that’s come before him - Koeman, Walsh, Bolasie, Tosun, Walcott, Sandro, Williams, [REDACTED] et al - for the situation we’re in financially.
They dont call the capital boGOTa for nothing.To be fair dave, I've just looked and GOT had a 721.07% increase in visitors from Colombia;
01-Sep-2019 - 01-Sep-2020 - 261
01-Sep-2020 - 01-Sep-2021 - 2,143
I mean, we get more traffic from Bootle in a week than we do in a year from Colombia, but James Rodriguez has took Colombia from 32nd to 26th in GOT's most visited audience. That has to count for something.

Yes C
and the current DoF jobber for not signing a right-back
As I’ve been pretty consistent with now for the last year mate the only positivity with Brands for me is that it’s some form of continuityHe’s in the dog house, Brands, but I’m not committing to an OUT OUT OUT yet
I think you overestimate the amount of loyalty people will hand to a player who has insulted the club and underlined how lacking in commitment he is to it. Yes there will be a hrad core of people who'll have the knives out for Benitez and use the James issue as a stick to beat him with, but it's not as if he's a club legend. He's a player who doesn't want to be here and the vast majority recognize that and will understand a manager that doesn't start him in games. You only have to read this thread to see what he faces. Benitez might not like it but James is a player that many are behind and see as our best player. If Benitez handles this without care, he'll get roasted and I would not be surprised to see Goodison turn on him should he appear to be acting unreasonably and the results/play is going against him. In fact, it is a cert. It could be the catalyst for his undoing. Let's hope not as that would mean we have a head-wrecking run of results ahead coupled with the joy of Benitez acting in a pig-headed manner, but he has been there before.
I agree about Benitez having the team firing at present but saying James won't run and isn't disciplined is clearly incorrect. Ancelotti openly admitted that he gave James a free role in the team, meaning that he was not expected to contribute hugely from a defensive point of view. The point that I was trying to make is that whatever view one has about Benitez he has fit , motivated and organised a team that is playing with pace and desire ( at present ). Introducing an incredibly talented player like James , who won't run and isn't disciplined is difficult likely to upset the balance of the team.
So , I can only see him I the first XI in those games where we need something a bit different and where those qualities of organisation, motivation and discipline aren't as important. The point you name about the pass against the RS is a good one. I suppose its a question of balance.
How would I feel if I was say Doucoure physically putting it all on the line to see James not bothering to track runs etc. Dunno?
Mate, the club couldn’t move him on. That’s all it is. Porto couldn’t make the deal work, and we wanted Diaz - a player who is all about pace and width, and offered a player in James who couldn’t be more opposite.I am astonished that he has chosen to stay here.
He only signed in the first place because of CA who has long since left.
He does not have a long term contract and will be gone I twelve months anyway, possibly even as early as January.
He now has a manager that clearly wants something from his players that he feels James cannot give.
It is hard to imagine that he is so toxic that no other club wanted him or that Ja.es is so greedy that he has chosen to remain with us rather than earn less money but play more football.
