Assisted 2/4 goals against the RS, and played the pass through to Digne for DCL's equaliser in the 2-2.

Scored that equaliser at OT.

Won the pen v Spurs which got us level, we should have won that game too he created six chances or something mad in that match.

Scored what should have been the winner v Palace. He was off the pitch when they scored and it was him going off that cost us because we had nobody to hold onto the ball.

Scored the screamer v Leicester that would have won us the game if not for Pickford's howler.

That's just stuff off the top of my head. Also set up Rich and DCL when those two missed that sitter v Sheff Utd. PLayed those two great balls out to Digne in the Fulham game.

We've not got another player who can do that.

He was top quality from an attacking perspective, anyone suggesting otherwise is fooling themselves. If he doesn’t want to be here though, or the manager doesn’t want him here, that’s that. I thought he worked hard as well when he was on the pitch but his lack of pace made when combined with having Siggurdson Davies Bernard on the pitch made it difficult for us to win the ball back at times.

If we had the type of quality players in the team which meant we could build around him at number 10 and he’d be out there most games then there’s no one better for me in that position. Sadly we just don’t have the quality in midfield and outwide to maintain the balance of a side with him in it. Add his injury record to that and it makes that set up pay off even less.

There was no denying his quality though, absolutely sumptuous player.

lol

FFS Dave.

He contributed - directly - to 14 goals last season.

That's more 'productive' than everybody in our squad other than GS (currently suspended) and DCL, last season.

Created our most chances from open play, second most chances in total. Only played 26 games.

He's the very definition of productive
He scored 6 and had 5 assists.

How does that make him productive given that offensive dutes are his only duties?

This is per-90 stats, which is a very good way of demonstrating productivity

Sadly mate I think you’re right. I believe Benitez’ brief is steady the ship whilst we cut the wage bill. That doesn’t mean I think that Benitez will not try to get Europe, just that I believe he was told that there is little or no transfer budget, other than what is raised by sales and that anything from 12th upwards will be regarded, by the board, as acceptable.

Its so sad that. In fact, this could have been the agenda for the past 5 years, and instead of a Chelsea-style boom and bust , hire and fire approach, we could have built cleverly, with a lot of financial backing, and today we would be sitting higher up in the table, but with a sustainable, youthful squad. I thought that's the type of club we were, and it's incredible that we have overspent so badly.
Imagine if after Martinez we had invested in a young, dynamic coach + DOF with a 5 year plan, and bought 17- 20 year olds, combined with our older professionals, we would have built a team. The feel good bounce after 3 years with Martinez was lost (That year we finished 5th counted a lot for people with short -term Premier League era memories) and we had Lukaku, Stones & Barkley - it could have been done so carefully and in a sustained way. Just annoys me so much that we have spent so much with so little reward. Obviously Chelsea is spending millions each year on the best players and staff but they also seem to have an infrastructure that allows it. At our level, we need 5 year sustainable plans with incremental improvements. Then we can find ourselves in the Champions League, with more money, more profile and then start to spend bigger on players.

He said on Friday that he has to isolate for another 8 days.

So why would he be playing?

If it's not all a lie - which it could well be from both him and the club - then he can't play. He won't have trained and his 10-day isolation would be from Wednesday last week to Saturday this week.

Depending on when the others got pinged, we could well be without Godfrey and Gbamin too.

They were both at the training ground for Richarlison's return on Thursday, but both out isolating on Saturday, so I would assume they won't be involved either.
And tweeting Atletico's slogan 'Nunca Dejes de creer' and 'soon' ???

Does that sound like a player respecting Everton?

It looks like a Spanish-speaking person posting 'never stop believing'

He could well be off to Atleti. That doesn't change the point about him being a good player.

As for disrespecting Everton, I no longer care. I've said before I don't like a lot about this club atm, how it's run, the people on the board, the state of what's gone on this summer, an external incident but still rather sums up the mess that is the club. And on Saturday a large section of fans were wishing death upon our former manager.

I for one am gutted he’s going, but no overly surprised. As soon as Carlo let it was a countdown really wasn’t it?
Gave us some sparkling moments but it’s best for every party if he moves on, wish him the best. At least we’ll always have that picture of him in the Titanic. Magical.

The Colombian posters here as well have been fine additions to our club
;)
