The Athletic have been pushing that 200k+ baloney for a few weeks now. No idea what their game is but it smells of Kopitery (new word that).

The only thing that makes me think its more than 90k was the lack of interest in the summer.

Surely for 90k there would have been a lot of clubs interested?

He’s more than happy to take Everton’s money, but can’t be arsed seeing who his teammates are playing next. No doubt he’ll be shipped off to Turkey, Russia or Portugal while the club covers most of his wages.

Ideally, I want him to provide good performances and if that happens, it will be great.
But I fear you're right - he, and just like many footballers out there who is more than willing to just sit on his **s and collect the paycheck. Unless, he commits himself mentally to the team, work hard and train hard (and Rafael uses him!) - It's better to just ship him off soon to reduce our wage bill.

Agreed, If he really was on 90k per week, clubs should of been clamouring all over him surely ?? Not one nibble, either clubs know he's not worth the bother due to injuries or he's on a fair wedge more than 90k.

Covid meant a lot of clubs were skint
Players were taking pay cuts , very few sales , plenty of loans with option/ obligations to buy
Even Barca could not afford to keep Messi and Juve could not afford to keep Ronaldo.
That why Juve , Barca and Real are still in the super league they are running out of money

90k a week over 2 years is less than 10m. I'm not sure that no club in europe could afford that.

Hes probably on more like 150,000 a week.
