State of some of the beauts in this thread. Mocking blues for having the temerity to want to see James Rodriguez play at Goodison Park after 18 months where we've been unable to go. Also using the fact that James only signed for us because of Ancelloti as a stick to beat him with and holding that up as a reason he's disrespectful lollollol Of course that's why he signed for us you loons, what do you expect him to say...'oh yeah it's always been a great ambition of mine to play for the 10th best team in England alongside Fabian Delph and Tom Davies'

You might as well ask how many kids were conceived the night of the 1985 European Cup Winners' Cup Final, or how many Kopites signed up to GOT in the 48 hours after Rafalafel took charge of Everton

The exact information does not exit, but you just know the numbers are large.

How many Everton shirts were sold in Colombia, for instance?

Multiple reasons/factors for this and that. Judging only what we can judge on Benitez alone. Its a decent start. Could go tits up. I am leaning towards it not falling off a cliff after 4 games like it did last year. Who knows. Something tells me things will be more balanced than what happened. But who knows. Good start. Let's see what happens next couple games.
Fell off a cliff after 4 games? Remind me, what position were we in at Christmas?

Doubt he came on a contract below our top earners. Doubt he's on 200k either.

It was all club briefed

When he signed and everyone was buzzing and we were winning games, it was getting briefed around the 100k mark (i.e. "among Everton's highest earners")

Now we need rid it's shot up to "the highest earner", "almost £200k", "on £200k" and now "north of £200k"

Don't blame the writers, I blame the club

It might well be true. It may be the case that Madrid were paying some of his wages for last season. We won't know for sure. It just feels very convenient and fits a narrative.

The one positive from today's Athletic article was at least that it wasn't written with the same sycophantic tone that the Joyce one was

I imagine the actual numbers are company confidential. Only thing I can see on that is this.

According to official retail partner Fanatics, there has been a 3269% increase in Everton merchandise ordered to the country since 2017, with Mina signing the following year. Since James, an almost 6000% increase, based on figures from 2019.

Are we sure Jamo will be here until Jan at least, transfer windows still open in Turkey, Russia and significantly Portugal i believe.

Sept. 7: Russia

Sept. 8: Turkey

Sept. 22:: Portugal

All of that amounts to sweet f.a.

Social media interest up: yes, I get it. Already baked into this conversation. But I'm asking how many shirt sales James generated.

Your shirt sales massive increase story is published 1 month before James signed....so what's your point there?
How dare you!

And especially after I so generously gave you a role in my ghost story, you cad!

Seeing as how you are always reminising about Top of the Pops let's have a James and Everton shirt sales chart for all the MEGA pop pickers.

Before James's arrival, plucky old Everton were bouncy along in 12th place, behind titans such as Leeds, Necastle, Villa and the Hammers

Cometh the hour cometh the man. Hit by superstar factor, the legend that is Hamez Rodriguez pulled the slumbering blues from the doldrums of mid-table obscurity, climbing 5 places like a Columbian powered rocket to a lofty 7th only being outperformed by the Slippery Sky Six.

Hold on, your first table has Huddersfield Town selling more kits than Spurs.

Where's that from?
