Some of the absolute guff the Benitez fun boys are spouting in here is bordering on stuff those cults over the park come up with, to back him and his decisions.

It's been crystal clear from day one that Benitez doesn't want or even like James, and is forcing him out of the club. Our manager had disrespected him from minute one, with every single response to James questions at every presser, so why would any player want to stick around and be treated like that?

Imagine what's been said privately by Benitez?!

James has never clearly said he wants to leave us either, as far as I can tell, and I think he just wants to play and be wanted, but that won't happen here with Benitez.

And all this nonsense of him being lazy/work shy is being put right to bed by his potential signing for Atletico, for one of the most demanding, hard working managers in the world game.

You Benitez fun boys think Simeone would tolerate a lazy player? It's a myth used to justify getting shut and it's just wrong.

Mad how Everton and our manager can't find a place for the obvious qualities James can bring, but Simeone can?!

Perhaps it's a case of Great recognising Great and wanting that in thier side, whilst we bring in probably the only manager in world football who actively dislikes James Rodriguez?! Everton That.

Tis ok though, we will have iwobi or Gordon to come on and unlock more obdurate defences than which we faced on sat...

We don't deserve nice things.

Our most progressive player in terms of passing/ball carrying last year after Iwobi (and that says enough).

And the lad can't run.

So we've got to replace that. That can't be with long diagonals to Townsend and Gray looking for flick ons like we saw for 45 minutes on Saturday - it won't work.

Reading that we should be worried more about losing Iwobi.........?

I just think it's part of the game now. I don't really care because I'm desensitized to it.

'Honest little Everton, knife to a gunfight, High Horse FC'. We've won one trophy in my lifetime, and I was 2 months old.
Fair enough. I'm in the camp that would prefer to win nothing than to win something by cheating though.

Imagine believing James has been forced out ?

It will be a bit of both mate, do not doubt that.

We need his wages off the books as we can't shift other players who do offer less because they're on ludicrous wages. So James, our top earner, needs to go. He will have been told, as per all the reports, early doors this summer that we were open to offers for him.

Mendes will have been working on making a move happen and then James will just say yes or no.

That's how it works.

There's been pretty reliable reports since early July that we were open to offers for him. That's to avoid selling DCL or Richy, I get it, but it doesn't excuse the club for being in such a crap financial position, either.

There certainly is a long queue of clubs trying to sign him.

There is also a lot of guesswork and imagination in that post, it is your opinion and you certainly are entitled to that, but the truth is none of us know the real truth.

My belief is when CA left, so did James, the only reason he said he came was Carlo, he would have been gone weeks ago only there were no clubs that could afford to take him or of a status that he would be prepared to go to them.

He would not have even considered coming to Everton if not for CA.

Benitez fun boyz UNITE

Meeting in the Lisbon at six to discuss battle plans.

Well like I said we've got to replace those 14 goals. Keep in mind, Sigurdsson directly contributed to 18.

So, that's 32 goals we need to replace. The three players we have in attacking mid positions atm are Iwobi, Townsend and Gray (assuming James leaves). Our main reported target is McNeil.

Between them, they directly contributed to 20 last season. That's six more, combined, than James managed in 26 games. Combined, those four players played 100 more games than James, yet only contributed to six more goals...

Edit: In fact, I'm just gonna bold that last point.

As it stands, we don't have McNeil, so that's 2 goals and 5 assists (7 combined) to take away. Leaving us with 13 between three players over 90 appearances in total. So one less direct goal contribution, from 64 more games.
So, you think we will be relegated ?

So, you think we will be relegated ?

Erm, no.

I just think we need to find a way to replace 14, and probably 32, direct goal contributions between two players from last season.

A lot of that can be managed by just having a better way of playing, which I hope Benitez brings. But it still needs to happen.
