Imagine if Tom Davies tweeted you will never walk alone and then said he had no idea it was a phrase associated with Liverpool football club

He’s played against athletico Madrid 18 times surely he would have seen that motto at some point
You mean like Digne's tattoo?

Just so daft how Everton always have to be one extreme to the other. I don't think there's any countenance to actively been happy to allowing a player of such quality leave. It doesn't mean a system has to be built around them.

Better management last season would have seen Everton make the most of the moments of magic James can provide. What's more frustrating is due to previous mistakes in recruitment, we're having to look to clear James' wages to improve areas which should have been improved years ago.

People have already convinced themselves that he doesn’t track back, he’s lazy and won’t run through brick walls.

The School of Science no longer exists, good footballers are not welcome here.
Disloyal troublemakers who cant be arsed getting themselves out of bed to be available for selection are not wanted here.

James is now just a stick for the desperate to beat Benitez with.

Tracking back and running through brick walls. I'm going to have nightmares of calves exploding tonight. Thanks for that.

And there we have it, article in the Athletic this morning with the charm offensive (though it's a good article from Paddy B).

Basically saying what a lot have said on here that he just won't fit.

I get it, I do, but it's absolutely mad. Again, Everton – one extreme to the other, never capable of finding any balance, never capable of playing the middle ground.

We're just going to rely on crossing, nothing else. That's the plan. And when that plan fails...

Disregarding a player of James' quality for the year he has left is, in my mind mental.

And it comes down to previous mistakes in recruitment meaning we can't afford that luxury of having a world class player able to drop in and out and actually help push us on.

All I learned from that article was there is a thing called expected threat (XT)???

Couldn't really disagree with much of it to be honest. I'm just not convinced the player wants to stay anyway

Less than a year ago this mate.

They really do think we are all thick.

That was playing off the right. Why we decided to stop playing that system just because we got 1 or 2 injuries still confuses me.

It's definitely his best poisition and we couldn't balance the side with him playing centrally. Can't have passengers in the middle of the park in this league, so you put a quality player where they will effect the game best - and that's out wide right.

Exactly Tim
Townsend was trying to do it on saturday , nowhere near as effective as James.
Play him where he does the damage not shunt him out the club.
