Here's another that might have been posted already.

Sky Sports - James Rodriguez admits he 'doesn't know who Everton are playing' as he looks set to leave the club

If I was an Atletico fan - I'd be careful what I'd wish for. I don't have any ill will against the guy - but I'd hold out praise for him until he performs and shows some commitment which I didn't because he played great to begin with. Look at guys like Niasse and Bolasie who were treated horribly by the club and they have more reason to be upset than this guy who was treated like a celebrity.

I think Atletico are in a good position to have a luxury player like him. End of the day, they're a great side and he can add some gloss to it, especially in the champs league, playing the odd game.

Simeone won't have any of his [Poor language removed] though

On balance it would be best if he left.

That's prefaced on his behaviour being destabilising to the squad and manager, and, very importantly, having the legroom to make signings to improve the squad.

We are not going to replace his quality which is a given.

It's sad if he actually did want to stay and is being made a sacrificial lamb to allow one or two other new signings.

That's the only justification for it really, there is probably wrong on both sides. We cannot replace like for like but we can still emerge stronger and more balanced.

Surely we will make a signing or two if he leaves. That's the only point of him going.

doubt we'll see him for the cup game but would be nice to see him in and around the squad for Brighton. If he does want a move he will have to prove he can still play footy at a high level.

What my heart wants James to do is to apologise to the fans for being so remote /aloof then play so well he forces Benitez to play him and make their differences up ,let him show he has the heart to play as well as he can ,my head says he is not worthy and will not be remembered with any fondness ala Mirallas et al.

James would be the best player by a mile in an Everton 5 a side team. Unfortunately, the full size pitch is too big for him especially as his calf’s are made of jelly and he has a pea for a heart. He often became a complete passenger in an 11 a side contest. Without the ball, which we were seemingly coached by Ancelotti to pretend was a hornets nest, covered in diarrhoea and hiding a live grenade, the team were at best 10 people with legs that work a lot slower than the other team.

None of the elite teams in the league want or would indulge him, he simply doesn’t work hard enough. I loved watching his few moments of brilliance, something I have seldom seen anyone in an Everton shirt produce but this league is too hard for him, there are too many athletes and he far too often looks like a World Cup winning octogenarian in an u18 league.

watching the opposition slugs breeze passed James as if they were peak Usain Bolt is never going to be a recipe for a winning team, it leaves the other players, who are mostly dog-dirt, with too much to do.

farewell James, thanks for the memories. Twitch it up

Should be banned from social media, in fact all footy players should be tbh. They live in a different world and don't even realise what they are saying half the time and especially if they don't speak English.

Still would love to see him stay though. Those moments of magic are irreplaceable. I do acknowledge that we are not in a position where we can afford such an expensive luxury though sadly. Benitez is severely restricted by ffp and having to sell to buy so really has to have players that will be totally committed and work their socks off for an entire season. I think everyone can agree that that is not James. Wish it was though.

There's others we've signed on near that amount who have taken the p*** on the pitch.

James has contributed, a lot, whenever he's played.

But yes, he should shut up about it on Twitch for a bit.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

The idea that we’re mid table because we get rid of Rodriguez is bollocks. We were mid table before him, mid table with him and will likely be mid table after him.

Teams like Leicester and Wolves didn’t break into the top 8 over recent years by signing players like Rodriguez. They signed players who fit a specific system with a vision of how the team would perform week in week out, and created a bit of stability within the club. That’s what we’re lacking and have been for years, drifting from different manager to different manager all with different play styles and signing players who fit the vision of the manager we then sack two minutes later, or sometimes don’t fit at all.

I honestly think we’ll look back on this situation and be amazed so much airtime was given to a discussion about a player who played about half a season for us.
