I dunno mate, but with Benitez telling Hammy Rodz to leave in no uncertain terms, and the vague rumours about Mina wanting out are anything to go by then he's not going to get the best recommendation of the place when he asks his Colombian Team mates about us is he?

Oh it's entirely mutual, Benitez has told him he's not wanted and Hammy Rodz isn't going to stick around to pooped upon by Benitez for a second time.
Perhaps having Diaz would make it more likely that Mina would stay? but then again it's down to Bulbous Benny and his wage reduction push.

It’s all speculation but I would hazard a guess that when he arrived, we had to buy out his contract, which effectively means we handover a load of dough that ultimately gets handed over to James to leave Madrid.
That may or may not be spread over 2y of his contract with us.
Football Leaks published his salary at Madrid as £129k / week and he had 12 month remaining iirc, so the buy out might have been around £6.7m
Let’s say he’s on £140k/w here, or £14.5m over the 2 years…..
£6.7m + £14.5m = £21.2m contract over 104 weeks = £203k/w.
It we were to trigger the 3rd year that looks more like £6.7m + £22m = £28.7m over 156 weeks or £183k/w exc any loyalty bonuses.
So regardless of what his weekly pay packet says, but hook or by crook I suspect we owe him at least £21.2m over 104 weeks, of which he may have had £6.7 as a signing on fee already (or we may be paying that over the duration of the contract, but either way he’s getting it)
Not suggesting this is a fact but just my suspicion.
