Confirmed Signing James Tarkowski

Well, No reason for bitterness - it was when Burnley were in the Prem/fighting relegation with us and he said Keane was the better defender. It figures, as others have said - Keane kept Tarkowski out the team there.

We'll soon see.

Someone said Lampard was trying to sign him for Chelsea so he obviously rates him.

Or you could look at it like the season he took over from Keane at the back Burnley finished 7th and qualified for Europe.

A lack of investment thereafter prevented them from pushing on really. He's a captain and leader that should command the defence well, something we badly lack when Mina isn't fit.

A free transfer to make room for the sale of Keane or Mina makes a lot of sense.

3 years and not daft wages then sound.

Do everything we can to shift Mina so he doesn't dance around in flip flops on holiday around Finch Farm his last 12 months and diddle us out of a fee. The same is true for Allan - definitely will look to just see out his contract.
Perhaps Keane the more likely sell-able. Mina will sit out until January when a continental team can offer him one big last pay day.

Anyway, welcome Ashley Tarkowski.

He's not Burnley's captain, let's just get this clear because it keeps being said. He filled in this year because Mee missed a lot of games and... they got relegated.

I understand the hesitance, understand the Keane/Burnley links etc. but...

- It's a freebie
- He's got a great fitness record
- He's not going to crumble like Keane does
"Nightmare debut for Tarkowski, after conceding two own goals Evertons new signing is stretchered off the field with suspected cruciate ligament damage"

I can just see it now my son.
God bless.

He's never struck me as a bad player, but I think we're going to have to stop whinging about FFP is we're putting relegated Burnley players on 120 big ones.

I like it. We’re in different territory now and this is our reality. We’re getting a good player on a free in a huge problem area, and he’s a player our manager was previously targeting when he managed a much better side.

The low block Burnley stuff is obviously a concern. But every time I’ve seen Tarkowski play he looks really assured, tough, and decently skilled.

When Keane is on form and confident he’s had a few dominant stretches for us. For me it’s his mentality and confidence that is his downfall even more than his speed. He just crumbles. I’m less worried about that comparison.

Mate.

We're having both

paid over the odds for an average player other clubs saw as a squad filler. nice work
Literally zero idea how much he is getting paid. I've been reading 90k a lot. I've just read he was possibly on 70k at Burnley. So 90k a week, is allright considering there is no fee to Burnley.

Also, if he had gone to Newcastle or villa, he would have been starting at both.
