Confirmed Signing James Tarkowski

I agree with most of the above. What I can’t tell if he is the same as Kean or can play in a higher line. If he never does it, I don’t know how anyone can asses him on it?
Yeah, I know he can put in a last ditch tackle and isn’t scared of putting his head where it hurts, but what’s he like with the ball at his feet? Genuine question, I don’t watch a lot of Burnley

In all honesty mate i havent watched enough of him. Rating of him seems mixed by so many.
What i wouldnt do though is pay him anywhere near what seems to be reported(could be crap) just because he's out of contract.
His agent will no doubt be pushing for it but he's just been relegated. He's not franco baresi ffs.
Hear hear.

I just don’t know enough about him to judge. It’s a bandwagon I’m not jumping on. We were burned by Ashley Williams, but Distin was superb.

We’re going to be tight on finances again it seems.

So getting in a player with premier league experience who won’t be costing us a fortune could be massive for us.

Some smart moves are needed. Just don’t give him a new deal after a year like Michael Keane.
We need 2 good loans, recently our loans have been non existent.

At least if he’s playing for us , he won’t be knobbling any of our players. Especially Richarlson . But there again there is the training.
Apologies if this has been already mentioned. The guy can defend. Can’t play football. But he can defend. And defending is an art in its own. An art that we are not that good at. So get this grock onboard. Pair him with Godfrey. And with Patterson and Mykolenko as our full backs. We then have the improved imo Holgate to come in if Lampard fancies a 3 at the back. Keane and Branthwaite on the bench. And can we really depend on Mina?

So imo Tarwokski would strengthen our defence. Make us hard to beat. Isn’t that what we all now want. A hard to beat Everton. And of course better players in midfield and up top. To win us a few matches. But first let’s be hard to beat.
Ps……..our would Tarwokski turn our to be like Ashley Williams as soon as he becomes an Everton player? Who knows. But I’d still take a punt on him.
Up the Toffees…..
A traffic cone would strengthen our defence to be fair.

This is why i tend to stay away from stats and just use my eyes to see what a players like.
For example. If we were playing brentford like the other day and they hit one ball over the top for a pacey striker is he getting done for pace.

Absolutely massive to get some quality loans in.

I feel lazy saying Chelsea’s ours best bet, but with Lampards connections they really are.

I still think we’d be stupid not to be offering “team friendly” deals to these clubs where we pay a low fee, with a buy back clause. With that new rule about 8-loaners max, it really leaves Chelsea and City in the lurch.

At first I thought he would be a terrible signing but if we can someone get him on a 2 year deal with an option for a third year I think it’s a no brainer.

Even if it’s a 3 year, I doubt we’d struggle to sell him if it didn’t work out.

The facts are that Moyes was desperate to sign him in recent years, and Lampard himself wanted to bring him to Chelsea in a window where they bought a load of superstars.

Lampard’s previous interest at least shows consistency and that he rates him to play at a much higher level than he was at Burnley.

On top of that he’s one of the best defensively in the league (tackling/aerially). The question marks are pace and how he is on the ball, but our biggest failings came with set pieces and he’d transform us there.

We’d be overloaded with centre backs so I assume that one of Keane or Mina would be leaving. Mina because he’s unfortunately so injury prone, or Keane because I think Lampard favoured Godfrey and Holgate over him whenever Mina was fit (?).

If we want him we should move fast as there’ll be plenty of takers. It’s a cheap option which allows us to spend elsewhere.

He would be if we were as bad and played as deep as Burnley
Its about balance we are awful at set pieces the stats above i have posted address that. Looking elsewhere on stats, tackle success rate of 75% this season. And he averages more than 11 recoveries per match and highest passes completed for Burnley. So technically can play the high line and as long as there is other pace either side to cover high line will be fine. And from what i can work out has more pace than Keane.
Anyway, I'm not one to get into internet forum obduracy . Be a good signing.

The moyes interest i do like. Apart from koldrup he was very good in his centre halves selections.

Or any player...
No. In 2022 you're going to be well worse at finding attackers and midfielders if you don't incorporate some kind of data into the process. It's how you figure out Doucoure isn't that good before you buy him or identify that Olise is the real deal before he's playing elsewhere.

I'd be absolutely made up with Tarkowski. Proper defender, delivers for them week in, week out. A big part of the reason why they stayed up for so many seasons. I've got issues with paying 90k a week to any defender tbh, but who knows if them reports are accurate.
