I think it'll be a miracle if we can catch up on our present budget tbh mate.

Villa long term may struggle but short term they should be ahead of us with the business they are doing as should Leicester and WHU.

Newcastle will push on with their financial might.

If the club had sense they would be touting DCL to the scab 6 and using a sale to rebuild the side.
Villa finished 6 points ahead of us having spent £100m+ over the course of last season on fees alone.

Everton have to accept that it's going to be a long process for us. Realistically our goal for next season is to be safely 8th-14th and build from there.

Accept it mate.

The club are open to selling anyone, but the season ended five days ago.

Survival until the stadium is built/Moshiri is chased out of town, whichever comes first, is the only aim for us for the next couple of seasons.

I believe his point is that you've completely misunderstood his point?

@NeilA1878 was making a pretty good estimation at Leicester's player wage bill, based on their official accounts that are in the public domain (so he doesn't have to be part of their HR department).

He's been generous and put £30m of their £160m wage bill down to staff, which is almost certainly too much as he said, but it's sometimes better to allow more of a margin because we don't know exactly how many staff Leicester have and that £30m could also account for all the other workers in their organisation. But that shows that Leicester's average wage for players is somewhere in the region of £100k a week, which for a side that had finished 5th for two successive seasons before finishing 8th this year, is probably about average.
I think that Everton have proven that wherever you finish does not dictate your salaries.

If that was the case we could use Liverpool/City/Utd/Chelski as an average and it would be considerably higher, use Watford, Norwich and Burnley and salaries would be a lower average.

If you would like to champion NeilA1878 and his figures so be it, me using the power of google is that I cannot be bothered checking each clubs figures hence used google as someone else did it for me and gave an average of £50k per week. Thank you for using one clubs figures for an average though, I salute your mathematics, not saying my figures are right, just offered opinion and did not misunderstand his point, chose to ignore his average salary figures because they make no sense when using one clubs figures to calculate 20 clubs salaries.

he's used the average based on their official accounts to get an estimation at THEIR salaries, not everybody's salary.

Who would you be looking at, @BlueToff?
I think Tarkowski would be a good start but I definitely wouldn't be going overboard for it. If other clubs want to offer him stupid wages then let him go to them, there's other CBs out there, but he's definitely better than what we have other than Mina who, as we know, is made of cheese.

The rest I'm not really fussed tbh, I'm happy to trust Thelwell to get the right players in for whatever him and Lampard see the vision as for the next season or two. Younger players, with athleticism, has to be crucial, but we can't go and get a load of children in and expect them to settle quickly.

We need at least 2 midfielders, one who is more of a holding player and one who can actually move with and pass the ball. Gallagher would be incredible for the latter but I think it's a long shot.

We need arguably 2 CBs - 1 to come in earlyish (why Tarkowski would be ideal) and then a younger one with more pace, but that relies on one or two others going out. I'd be loaning Branthwaite out whatever happens.

We need another wide player but a lot depends on Richarlison/DCL and if they stay or go.

I think Villas problem is Dean Smith and Slippy are bang average managers. With the players they have they should easily be competing for Europe.

Add that Carlos at ze back with Big Bad Bassey and no doubt a few other signings to come they are light years ahead of us at present.

If their owner was smart he would boot Slippy and try for an Emery/Kovac level appointment.

Final note. DECLARED PLAYER ONLY salaries for the season 20/21 for all Premiership clubs £1346m. Total active premiership players 524. £1346m(total salaries) divided by 524 (active players) = £2.56m divide this by weeks in the year (52!!) =£0.049m = £49000 (£50k) average.

Now I understand that their are bonuses and averaged out each player may get £1m a year, but being at Everton they get nothing!!!

Now is Tarkowski that good that he is worth double the average premierships salary knowing he is 29 and its his last contract so will probably want four years and he did not keep his team up with his defensive and leadership skills, that is the point of the thread and not my maths, thank you and goodnight.

They aren't light years ahead of us. They finished like 14th?

They are only slightly better than us and their business has made no sense so far.

They clearly are - they signed one of our best players and tossed us a squaddie on loan in reserve.

Watkins
Ings
Digne
Coutinho
Martinez
Cash
Carlos
Konsa
Bassey
Luiz

Add in useful squad players when fit like Buendia, Bailey, Mcginn, Traore and they'llno doubt be signing more this summer.

We have literally abar 5 good players - their problem is appointing bad managers.

Why have you included someone who doesn't play for them?

DCL and Richy over Ings and Watkins, Pickford over Martinez all day for me
It's in Midfield they have the edge, particularly in creativity...Buendia and Coutinho would walk into our team
