Agree with you about Cleverley. I'd only consider him on a free, with a view to doing a Lucas Neill with him and selling him on for a decent profit. If he turns out so well that we want to keep him, fine. If not, fine.
With Delph, I think we could agree a deal in January to take him on a free in the summer. Gives Gibson a chance to put himself in the shop window, gives Besic a chance at decent game time... I like Gibson as a character, and he has talent. But he's not capable of staying fit for any significant period of time. I suspect we'll be selling Barry to the MLS in a year or eighteen months, and Gibson can't be relied upon to play 40 games a season so can't step into Barry's shoes.
Basically what I mean is we will win the Europa League with a midfield including Barry,Mccarthy, Gibson and Besic. In doing so we will attract potential buyers for Barry and Gibson. We will sell them both for modest sums, maybe £3m each, but replace them with Delph and Cleverley on frees. We'll keep Delph and he will be in the three-man rotation for CM with McCarthy and Besic, and Cleverley will stay only until Ledson is ready, at which point we'll sell Cleverley at a profit, maybe £6m. And then I will turn off FM and think about going to work.
We already have Mirallas who can do that. The reason he doesn't is because we have zero depth on the right so he has to play there. We need someone who can play on the right of the attacking three as well as ACM.
I love mirallas but the idea that he is anything other then a winger is absolute poppycock. He has played as a striker and it has never worked and he he is just to greedy to be a playmaker. although his best position is definitely on the left for me.

This window is going to be about holding on to our crown jewels. If we don't receive a crazy offer for stonsey I will be amazed, he looks a future England captain and a awful lot of European sides are short of defenders at the minute. United need a least 3 on their own.
