It's about time that anyone mentioning Shawcross as a serious suggestion should be carried off by a gang of smurfs on acid and bummed into oblivion. He's on a long contract and would therefore cost more than we can afford, more than some considerably better alternatives and certainly far more than he is worth.

Van Dijk is a more realistic prospect. So is Reid. So is Schar. I'd take Corluka ahead of Shawcross.
