@johnmerro1: It was mainly #EFC pushing out Eto'o themselves to other clubs. They're now interested in replacing him with a loan deal for Januzaj #MUFC

We need to sign someone who can be the attacking fulcrum for many years to come. Someone that all our play goes through, someone who's not afraid to be the main man. The creator-in-chief. Probably sign a winger for a joke instead.

Not really, Cabaye was a good shout though. You'd think Roberto would have an eye on a Spanish player really. They all want to play that position, so there must be a few decent ones about.

You would have hoped Ross might have developed into playing that sort of role better than he has done so far, still think we could do with improvements in wide attacking areas too.

Strong rumours we are heavily scouting Ryan Jack from aberdeen. Very tidy defensive midfielder very much in between the style of besic and McCarthy. Long term replacement for Barry. Although any replacement for barry would be good.

Interesting forum on Ryan Jack here - http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=4&fid=27&sty=2&act=1&mid=2110442403&page=4

Few quotes about how they'd be happy with him coming to us and improving under Martinez. Overall consensus is he's their best player and they wouldn't like to lose him, but they expect to by the summer. Few comparing him with Mccarthy but saying he's better then James was when he left (mind he's much older).

He had better make some signings this week and clear out some deadwood.

Mid jan already.

Relax. Regardless of the summer's expenditures, this is still Everton.

Anyway, the deadwood and older players will clear themselves out. Eto'o is proof. Alcaraz and Distin are unlikely to be extended at this point. Joel may force Howard's departure, and it's possible Ossie may have to retire. That's a decent turnover for two windows.

A winger is essential. Get one of them with are tweak in tactics and we'll be fine. The leagues pretty dead, but I'm still confident for Europa with a good addition and injuries being kind.

Obviously longer term we need another GK and to replace the 2 backup CB's but I thought we had a very good squad in August and I still think the same now.

Tactics not personal has been our downfall this season so far.

Naismith and barkley should be fighting it out and rotating the No.10 role not one of the shunted wide!!

Are you naive or just stupid. He has always looked a settled keeper when he's had a run of games, your just one of those fans who loves a boo boy. Look at the bigger picture - he has a good run and he DOESNimpress

He's conceded at least a goal a game.

He's had one decent and one excellent performance and been pathetic in the rest.

Let's pipe down with the "stupid" shouts if you can't use your and you're correctly

He hasn't made a mistake in any of the games since Howard's injury. And he has made excellent saves in all of them. He's not the finished product but his big weakness was crosses and always punching which he looks to have sorted now. There's no reason he can't improve in other areas and I prefer him in goal to Howard already. 6 foot 5, althletic, good shot stopper, commands his area. What's not to like. At 23 he could go on to be a top top keeper. Accept we might have called this one wrong, it's good for the club if we have.

Am I being overly optimistic in thinking that if Eto'o is going it's probably to make room for someone that fits in our system better (i.e. a winger)?

Makes sense to me given that we effectively have 3 strikers now Kone is fit again, counting Naismith as the third.

I said it the summer. A left winger, Pienaar/Silva player is what we need but given one (22 year old Carles Gil) which we where confirmed to be looking at has just been bought by Villa for 3.2m we either are a) not going to sign anyone or b) are in the process of a deal for a landmark signing.

I'm pretty sure I know which it is.
