Just been through all the rumour pages and newspapers, everything, the only rumour I could find is the Leeds right back Byram, that we are interested.

The lads are away enjoying their football now in Qatar after their shyte display last night. We need an injection of new player/manager to get the juices flowing again.

Its going to be a long week, with probably zero signings and Eto'o gone

Agreed thought Besic played great, couldn't believe it when Senior Bone head took him off, Barry was knackered and kept him going the full 90 minutes

Saul from Atletico Madrid? Heard some great things from him - think even that Balague guy has raved about him a few times. Neat passer and seen as one of the future starters for Spain. Be good if we can get him but then I wonder what formation is Martinez looking to play at if he wants McCarthy/Besic as his shield?

That's the big question. From him comments about Pienaar and Osman I think Martinez wants to spend although it could have just been him blaming injuries which lets be honest isn't the case because even if they where fit then both are past their best.

If we got that one player I think it would change us drastically. Our problem is that we're toothless and due to that we push both our fullbacks so far up it's difficult to defend the counter making us too open defensively. I even think players like Barkley and Rom would come good with that kind of player linking things up and getting us moving the ball around faster.

Do we really need a defensive midfielder?

If it was to replace Barry I would be windmilling but we all know it won't be.

Even then do we need to replace Barry if we have McCarthy and Besic?

Saul and Besic deepest mopping up and knitting together some passes. McCarthy a bit further forward with his box-to-box energy. Barkley roaming around doing what he wants. Lukaku and X up front.

There we go - worlds thinnest team.

Saul would definitely be an improvement over Barry who to be fair hasn't been awful these last 4 games. I don't think there's anything to it. Every young player in Spain gets linked to us because of Deulofeu. Shame is that none actually come.
We need a creative David Silva type player. That's all. I would be delighted if we got one and no-one else plus I really think Joel has stepped up. Even last night with the punch and the save (that was offside) he showed he can be relied on even in games when he has little to do. Of course that's taking a bit of a risk and CB and RB but right now we need to blow whatever we have on someone that will help us put the ball in the net.
