I think they'd have paid that for Carroll in a summer window. If you want to buy a fellow Premier League club's main goalscorer and he isn't in the final year or so of his contract, chances are you're paying top dollar. They also paid 35 mill for Carrol. I see your point though. Jelavic and Pienaar turned our season around when they arrived, Artets was also a Jan buy (oh to find another Artera for 2 mill) I just think teams tend to overpay in Jan because the selling club has all the power and the buyer is usually desperate (like ourselves). We'll end up paying 5 mill for some absolute jarg winger who wouldn't go for 1 mill in the summer just because we're desperate for a winger.
I'll be thinking about the 'no value in January' line when Coutinho is waltzing through Everton's midfield and playing in Sturridge next week.
I think they cost about £25m in the evil January window.
Can people name 10 players that other clubs have signed so far within our budget that is at the required standard we need 9e.g not another McGeady)
By the way this is not me saying "all is fine" we DO need 2 maybe 3 signings for the 1st team but it seems not a lot has gone elsewere that I have said "oh why didn't we go in for him?" Heard a few people said this Gill at Villa but other than that cant think of many more
Except the Scottish Premier League was abolished in 2013 and Alloa would be know where near it if it did. They are second bottom in theThat's a relief.
The Mirallas situation depends on Mirallas.
If he wants to leave , how badly ? and what is he prepared to do to force a move through ?
The penalty incident. Was it an exercise in proving what a negative and upsetting influence he could be or merely a forward(who has scored penalties) trying to boost his own scoring record and increase his worth for negotations with Everton in the future ?
In the last week how has he trained, how has he interacted with players, management and coaching staff ?
Is he telling the other players he doesn't care about Evertons results as he is off now or in the summer or is he one of the positive influences trying to boost morale ?
I don't know and I have not read anything on here to suggest anybody else does either but those factore and the transfer fee as well as available
replacements are the major factors I would think
We shouldn't have to sell any players to get new players in, we need to keep the squad we have at the moment & add 2/3 players otherwise it's Championship football next season. We'll revert back to the old way of sell to buy or loan, until the next major TV money comes in, then we might make a substantial signing and repeat........
Would prefer matt Ryan for brugge young talented passing is world class and an aussie so you know he is tough and will work his ass off and wouldn't cost a lot
