If you could sell mirallas and bring in lennon and konoplaynka by tuesday morning would you do it?

Bearing in mind that mirallas is likely to leave in the summer anyway & a player like konoplaynka would be much harder to attain in the summer than in this window.

I think I probably would yes. But without the Lennon part.

Sadly direct pace on the wing is what we currently are in need of, deulofeu didnt always have a great end product but the presence of a direct winger with pace was enough to drag the opposition defence out of position and create space for others to benefit.

Although mcgeady has more in his locker he doesnt offer this

They also paid 35 mill for Carrol. I see your point though. Jelavic and Pienaar turned our season around when they arrived, Artets was also a Jan buy (oh to find another Artera for 2 mill) I just think teams tend to overpay in Jan because the selling club has all the power and the buyer is usually desperate (like ourselves). We'll end up paying 5 mill for some absolute jarg winger who wouldn't go for 1 mill in the summer just because we're desperate for a winger.

I'm hoping Martinez saying that was just a way of lowering expectations rather than him actually believing it. There is plenty of value to be had if you look hard enough, especially with contracts due to expire within 6 months. We can wait and see if anything happens before the deadline though. I'm sure we'll get at least one player in, hopefully 2. If not then Martinez will have lost the faith of a lot more fans, me included.
