I've been talking about net benefits to clubs though (objective) not "better" players (subjective).

Caps for England are essentially meaningless unless you could show they had enhanced the eventual sell-on value, which Baines hasn't yer realised as an asset.

Baines is essentially at 250 games without a trophy for Everton. I would be amazed if at most big clubs in recent years (Chelsea / United / City) any of their players get to 200+ without either winning a trophy or being moved on.
